“Great location. Bus stops right outside. every 20 mins into scarborough”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 14, 2010

We stayed three nights and enjoyed our visit. There is a private entrance to the accomodation area so no need to walk through the pub itself. The rooms are very dated but its part of the character of the hotel. we had the only room that has its own balcony, it was a little bit more expensive (£75.per night) but well worth the extra cost as the room got very hot and we made full use of the double doors. The room overlooked the golf course and the distant view also took in Scarborough castle and the sea. Parking our car was one of our first priorites, pleny of spaces here, no problem. And we would certainly recommend the food. plenty of it and cheerful service included, May neeed to take avantage of the double decker bus in the garden that is fitted out with a softplay area for the children, to get rid of those extra pounds of weight that you may certainly gain. Will definitely vsit this hotel again

Just spent a weekend here. Could not fault the accommodation but because the owner is trying to do everything herself this can sometimes result in mistakes such as incorrect drinks at breakfast and trying to check someone else into our room half way through our stay! She has only owned the pub for just over 6 months so once she's got her first summer season under her belt these teething troubles will hopefully be ironed out.

We came to stay for just one night but after reading some of the other reviews I was a bit nervous, but found myself being pleasantly surprised the room were clean and well presented with lots of clean towels and tea and coffee making things. The bathroom was a bit dated but was also very clean and had everything you could need.
We didn't have an evening meal but had drinks later and found them reasonably priced. The staff were very helpful and polite and breakfast was lovely couldn't complain about much apart from the weather but it is Scarborough.

We came here to stay by chance, ended up staying the full weekend. It was clear that alterations were being made to the hotel. The room that we were given was very clean, comfortable, homely to be precise. Breakfast was great! It was quite whilst we were there due to the time of the year!. We were notified that workmen may be in and out of the hotel, and were later informed that it should hopefully be finished by Easter 2010. Seeing previous reviews on the this hotel, i must state, the new owners of this establishment have obviously got a lot of work to do here! but they are well on their way to making a lot of changes and I wish them all the best for the future.

This review is to do with the food (have stayed in hotel the past used to be nice really great rooms and staff, last time we stayed rooms were dirty never gone back to stay)we have just eaten in the pub the food was terrible the worse tuna melt I have ever had I think there waved the tuna over the bun, chips were dried up and my husbands scampi was soggy. The woman who served us needs a lesson in customer services her attitude was the pits( I think she was in charge)

Located just outside Scarborough on the Whitby Rd, it is ideally placed for Scarborough, Robin Hood Bay & Whitby.
We stayed 3 nights in Sept & was disappointed with the Ivanhoe as it was seriously dated & in need of a lot of money spending. There was also a cleanliness problem. Our friends had to change rooms as the shower cubicle was filthy.
The breakfast was perfectly O. K.& the staff were friendly.
We paid £30. per person B. & B.
Could be a lot better.
