“Cant wait to come again”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2011

Arrived there on the thursday lunchtime and was initially dissappointed that our room wasnt ready, but they were happy for us to leave our car and belongings and head off into Scarborough for the day. The beach is just a short 10 minute walk away and as we had dropped quite lucky with the weather we were able to spend the afternoon there.
We checked in later the afternoon and found our room, although basic, was very clean and tidy and had everything we needed.
The bar was a little expensive but as we only enjoyed a drink before we went out and a nightcap when we came in this wasnt a problem. if you do find it an issue there are plenty of other places to drink nearby.
The staff were always available and on hand to help out or offer advice where to go. Lisa and Joanne were the 2 we came into contact with the most and they could not do enough for us, and if we didnt need anything they always made time for a chat. The 1 time we did need thier assistance was when unfortunately the cleaners had forgotten to leave us some clean towels but between them we had some new ones in a very short space of time.
the only downside to the hotel i would suggest is that the walls to the adjoining rooms were very thin and one can hear everything that goes on next door!! As it is generally a family hotel though this isnt a massive issue as there are no rowdy groups of lads / lasses to make a huge disturbance.
On the whole a very pleasent stay, great value for money and we will difinately be back

Me and my partner stayed one night at this place. Never again. We were situated outside the main building in sort of an annexxe. We were surrounded by extremely noisy foreighn students. The bed was hard and the pillows were worse. will definately give this one a miss if we decide to visit Scarborough again.

Travel lodges are ususally uniform where ever I have stayed, this was not the case, the room smelt musty and the bed was very uncomfortable.
It needed updating as it was old and it was full of dust in the corners.

Room Tip: musty and uncomfortable bed

We booked our stay for 1 night on route to Primrose Valley. Receptionist was pleasant but I was concerned after hearing an older gentleman complaining about their room on arrival. We were allocated a family room in the building behind the hotel, as we walked through the door to this building there was a terrible smell of uncleanliness which I was not expecting, it only got worse when we opened our room door to find a small cramped room which was in need of renovation and got the shock of my life when my young son opened the bathroom door and laughed as there was pink flamingos painted on the walls which did not match in with the dampness on the other walls. The shower leaked on the floor when used and you actually did need to move around in it to get wet. My son was in the bunkbed when he asked what was wrong with his quilt, I had to stay calm as I didnt want the kids to be upset but his quilt was extremely worn and should not be on beds for guests. The whole room was tired and I would definitely not return.

We only stayed for one night. The room was very small, the bedding and towels were c lean but the bathroom was not. The shower was not clean and the floor was dusty and looked as if it had not been mopped for a long time. some of the corridors looked as if they had not been swept. This Travel lodge used to be a very old victorian hotel which they have converted but i think they need to spend a lot more money on the rooms. We did not eat here so don't know what the breakfast was like which says a lot about how we felt. We would not stay here again.

The two towels one each were small and only one double electric point in the room which was behind the T.V and could not be further away from the mirror so for ladies wanting to style your hair made this near impossible, the staff were very friendly and helpful asking for extra pillows to the supplied two to the room was not a problem. Overall it was good value for money.

Room Tip: we did not ask for a view but there would be some rooms with fantastic views over the harbour

We have just stayed at the holliday cottage here and we were pleasantly suprised by the cottage, clean and modern kitchen area, tv in every room! dinning table and nice sitting room, the rooms were beautifully decorated and the beds were very comfy, we were provided with a cot and blankets for our baby girl and she slept well too. perfect location and friendly staff would definatly stay here again! x
