“A truly fabulous hotel in a wonderful Yorkshire location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 17, 2010

Our family visit to Ox Pasture last weekend was wonderful. The food in the restaurant was amazing, all the staff were very friendly and attentive, nothing was too much trouble and the acccommodation (in the courtyard) was clean and very very comfortable.
We shall certainly be booking again for our next family get together.
Thanks Lindsay.

We booked a table here on a Saturday at 7pm, and we were the 1st party in when we were taken through to the restaurant but it got a little more atmosphere around an hour later.

The food was flawless, gorgeous and different.

However, this place really let itself down with the service. Our meal took 2.5hours for 3 courses, including a 45 minute wait between finishing our mains and ordering our desserts, and appalingly we were not offered a single drink once during out meal (not even water)!

There were 3 staff - a young girl, a Polish woman, and a hairy young waiter who had terrible BO and didn't seem to know what he was doing. The women were very helpful and polite, but we always had to call them to us as they were trying to run the front of house, the bar and wait on the restaurant all at the same time! Too many jobs, not enough time.

All in all, I would love to recommend this place based on the food alone, but I don't think you would have a good time purely down to the service. We don't intend to return, which is a shame as the setting is lovely and the food is superb!

We stayed for one night. Despite most of the hotel being taken up with a wedding we looked after superbly. We were the only people dining in the restaurant. The food and service were first rate. The room comfortable. Heartily recommend.

My wife and I took an elderly relative to the OX Pasture for lunch. We were the only diners but we were well looked after. Tthe food was very well presented and excellent value for money. Indeed it was one of the best meals I have had out for years. The restaurant overlooking the gardens was very nice and there was acres of parking. Apart from the young lady who served the meal we only saw one other member of staff who I would say was adequate. Highly recommended.

From check-in to check out we had a great long-weekend stay. Service and care from staff was excellent without being over-powering. Lovely grounds - our choc lab loved the place! Menu extensive and flexible (combine a la carte and Bistro items).Quality of food and presentation excellent..plus vg wine list.Spotlessly clean and very comfortable room with all mod cons plus free WiFi.Lounge bar homely with open fires. We shall return!

We had a two night stay and were delighted to find we had received a complimentary upgrade and our room was spacious, clean and comfortable..

The food was well cooked, immaculately presented and well served.

Staff throughout were friendly and helpful. Two minor problems with our room (tv tuning and a radiator needing "bleeding") were quickly solved by the ubiquitous Alan who during our stay provide excellent service at the bar and reception also.

We are shortly returning with friends.
