“wonderful find”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2012

We found this gem by chance and were bowled over by it. The fairground rides take you back to the days when rides were family orientated, and were a joy to 'have a go' on. Sit and listen to the mighty wurlitzer whilst having a cup of tea or enjoying an afternoon tea dance. This place should be on everyones holiday itinerary.

“Fantastic, not to be missed”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2012

We were staying at the neaby Blue Dolphin, and saw the signs for this place and decided to have a look. Without a doubt one of the high points of the holiday. The collection is based on the Flower of May holiday camp, which is one of a number owned of camps by a guy called Graham Atkinson, who built up the collection as something of a hobby.
We have two kids, age 6 and 21 months, and both of them had a really good time, as did Nannie and Grandad.
As well as old fashioned fair ground rides, they have old showmans steam engines, and a collection of vintage cars and motor bikes, travelling fair organs, which were all very fascinating, as well as two old Wurlitzer organs.
The old showman's caravan is lovely, we all wanted to move in.
Entrance is £5 for adults, and £3 for kids age 6 to 15, while under 6s go free, but with that you get a few free tickets for the rides inside. Believe me, this place is worth every penny.
If you manage to use up your free tickets, the rides will cost you an extra pound, although, once again, kids seemed to get rather a lot of rides free.
Our oldest (6) and youngest (21months) both loved the Austin mini motors, and the oldest really loved the old dodgems, and managed three goes.
The staff are a real credit to this place, really, really friendly, great with kids, and you really feel lke they want you to enjoy your visit.
They are all really knowlegeable about the exhibits, and will happily take you behind the scenes of the exhibits to show you how they work.
After a good hour or more, we went into the ballroom, which contains the two Wurlitzers, and yet more mechanical organs. which play while you enjoy a drink from the bar or cafe.
We ordered tea and cakes, and have to say the chap who served us, who, also doubles up as organist was lovely, even coming round with a tea pot to give us a refill.
I really can't reccomend this place enough, many businesses could learn a lot about customer care and good business from this place.
Many thanks, hope to visit again.

“Happy Happy Memories”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2012

Took the wife and kids today. It's a small place but it has some fantastic exhibits. The staff are very friendly and we were made to feel very welcome. We tried all the rides and had a fantastic time. It reminded me of my distant childhood. Who needs multiplayer online gaming when you can ride some traditional fairground rides and see some marvelous vintage vehicles. Would love to have sat in some of the cars but this was not allowed (quite understandably given the age of the vehicles)

“All the fun of the fair”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2012

Visiting this attraction took me back to my early childhood when fairgrounds had a different feel to those of today, when the music was played by mechanical organs that read punched cards; power was generated by "Showman Class" traction engines.

The exhibition also includes classic bikes and cars and, on some days, you can hear the mighty Wurlitzer being played.

The entry fee includes a go on a fairground ride of your choice (you can pay for other rides if you choose).

“Fabulous collection - MUST see”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 25, 2012

Just 5 miles out of Scarborough at the Flower of May holiday park this is an absolute gem of a 'museum'. Fairground organs, if you are lucky you might get to hear the 'Wurlitzer' being played as we did, rides, cars, motorbikes - just fab. Highlight - the showman's wagon!
