“Overpriced and very disappointing...read on”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 15, 2012

Stayed here for a week with the family and was really really disappointed. We paid £750 for a week and it wasn't worth the money. I'm really surprised that the other reviews for this place are good. The carpets throughout were filthy dirty, as well as several walls in the property. The kitchen was also dirty with cheap, nasty cutlery and crockery. There was no gas for the BBQ, which spoilt an evening, but in honesty, the back yard was horrible with rubbish lying about outside generally.

I would also strongly urge you not to bring children here, we had a 1 and 3yr old and there was no gate on the stairs and a large drop in the back 'courtyard' (more like a yard) from the area with table and chairs. Without continuous supervision, it was just unsafe for them. This was the only fire exit at the back of the property and I couldn't see a fire alarm anywhere.

The general feel of the place was also very untidy and uncared for with a broken patio door and a cooker with a faulty starter. There was also a leak in the lounge and some furniture was in disrepair. We were also unhappy with the minute shower with torn plastic curtain.

Overall I would not recommend this place to anyone, the only benefit being the fantastic location.

This is very unfair. The cottage is marketed as a nice seaside cottage and a great place to spend a relaxed family holiday. We have many happy guests who come back year after year and do just this.

Many young children have had a great time here and we have no accidents to report. This reviewer wants to leave their 1 year old & 3 year old "without supervision"......eh ??????, I,m afraid the house does have stairs, but they are neccesary to get to the 1st & 2nd floor and are perfectly safe, with regulation bannisters etc. etc......but I would never leave my 1 or 3 year old on their own....period !!!!!

It,s not 5 star accommodation and is priced accordingly, the idea is that guests, including families can enjoy themselves in a clean and pleasant house without worrying and being too precious.

We live five doors down the road and try our best to make everybodys stay pleasant and hassle free. This reviewer did not even ask for gas for the BBQ which we supply for a £10 deposit on the gas bottle, or indeed or talk to us about anything at all, surely if there are issues then it,s reasonable to talk to us about it. The ignition on the stove works fine, you have to turn on the power at the plug, that all !!

Unfortunately, each year we get one or two unpleasant guests who simply cannot be pleased and have unreasonable expectations. The house is cleaned thoroughly by us every Saturday & the laundry is proffesionally cleaned. Unfortunately these people misuse and abuse trip advisor . This reviewer seems to have spent a lifetime doing trip advisor reviews, and if they do not get their own way (even if it is unreasonable) then they use trip advisor as a weapon. Thankfully, most people are not like this, this is the first bad review we have had

Stayed at Harbourside house in July, excellent vibe there and a genuine couple that run the place.
Impromptu BBQs out the back and a fire pit and plenty of space to put wetsuits and also bikes ect.
Very friendly and welcoming, even let me put my drinks to chill in their fridge ! Mike is a keen surfer so can recommend all the good spots and Paula is a kayak instructor - so loads of advice on hand.
Can not recommend this place highly enough, and its just over the road from the sea too !
