“Cheap and cheerful”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 29, 2013

Visited on a Wednesday night, plenty of parking, big premises so plenty of room inside too.

We sat in conservatory so we could watch our kids playing in playground, when my wife ordered food she forgot our table number and when she tried explaining we were sat in conservatory (and were the only party eating in there at the time) the lad serving her was rude telling her to go and get the table number before he could place order, awful service - surely he should know which 3 table numbers are in the small conservatory? Certainly no need to be rude and upset my wife.

Food was usual family pub fayre, I had a burger which was average. Baguette sandwiches looked ok and ice cream sundae desserts were alright.

Playground good for older kids but not big enough for all ages.

“Poor food and unacceptable service”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2013

Attracted to The Plough by the outdoor children's play area which was very good however that's the only positive thing I can say about it. We waited over 40 minutes for our food to arrive, when it did finally arrive the quality was generally poor. The pizza base was totally over cooked, the garlic bread for the lasagne was actually a piece of plain naan bread with no garlic and no taste. We ordered a caesar salad but they brought a plain chicken salad instead with no parmesan, no croutons and no caesar dressing. When challenged they refused to accept they had made an error despite the menu stating all those ingredients would feature. The staff were unhelpful and rude. We will never go back.

The outdoor play facilities are very popular and we also have an indoor Fun Farm for younger children on the first floor. Thank you for your comments on the food and service.

Thank you for the great review. The soft play area is much bigger than expected in a pub of this size taking up he whole first floor. Kids can play to their hearts content without disturbing diners and you are of course welcome to eat upstairs to keep an eye on them.

“Nasty experience”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2013

We went to this pub for a bite to eat and wish we had not. Three of our party ordered the steak, one rare one medium/rare and a medium. my so was given his which was ment to be rare but after tucking in he complained it was rare (to me it looked well done) as they were bringing out the other food a waitress says she has a rare and a medium rare, giving my mother the rare ment for my son and the medium rare to my son which was ment for my mother but only realised after tucking in. The steak that was originally given to my son that was taken away was brought back and given to me. ( a half eaten steak) saying this was the medium and i had to eat that even when i said i was not happy that they have brought back a steak that was mistakenly given to my son. Also the chips were not freshly cooked, they were warmed up and dry as were the mushrooms and peas . We decided to eat up and leave while fighting of the flies that wanted to share our meal. All in all a disgusting place to eat and staff are rude and two members of staff were giving each other piggy backs behind the counter. NEVER AGAIN
