“Avoid”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 26, 2012

A large party of us recently went to the Ivanhoe. The food took over an hour to arrive despite the place not being that busy. The chilli con carne some of us had was similar to cat food in consistency, the portions were small and it didnt taste very nice at all. The lemonade had gone off but the barman refused to believe me without tasting it and it took 2 attempts to get it sorted. The whole place needs a refurbishment as it looks shabby, the chef needs to learn how to cook and the staff need some basic training in customer service.

“You call that tough!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2012

Visited the Ivanhoe Restaurant on Sunday 21 October 2012, with a party of 14 friends, we had booked a table/tables in advance. From the moment we entered, it felt uncomfortable, the manager constantly watching us. After a less than friendly reception, and a minor argument about place settings, we ordered our meals and proceeded to eat. The manager still continued to stare at us from his chair, then when we had finished our main meals, asked if everything was ok. One of our party said that the meat in his pie had been a little tough, at which the manager plunged his fingers into the pie, stuffed a piece of meat into his mouth, then said "you call that tough!!" To say we were horrified would be an understatement. I have eaten in restaurants all over the world, but never ever have I witnessed anything like that. Disgusted of Chester.

“I'v a no room left for desert but had treacle pud anyway (yum)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2012

A really lovely Sunday carvery with nothing at all missing. Gorgeous yorkshires, gorgeous spuds, gorgeous gravy. (Those are the bits I like best!) friendly and prompt service and although we didn't have to wait to be seated I would recommend you book a table as the restaurant filled up rapidly within minutes. Beer garden is super with little fluffy bunnies and birds for the kids to enjoy. Highly recommended!

“Chips!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2012

We went to the Ivanhoe for a bite to eat after Sealife Centre. The staff were very friendly and prompt. I ordered a panini which came with chips and salad and my partner ordered a burger. Both were decent sized and the chips were home made and amazing! The only thing was they didnt have any basil for my mozzerella, tomato and basil panini. Other than that a good meal and cheap!

“Great Fish and Chips”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2012

Went to Scarborough which was very busy with little parking trying to find somewhere for lunch.Heading out of town came across The Invanhoe.
We ordered the fish and chips which was fantastic and very reasonable price.
Would recommend as a good place out of Scarborough.
