Description: Take a step back in time. . . Francis Tea Rooms is set in an original 1930's hairdressing salon, complete with wood-pannelled booths. It has an unique atmosphere with hand embroidered tablecloths and Art Deco vases. We serve Taylors coffee and a variety of their loose teas in vintage china. A varied menu of brunch, light lunches and afternoon teas is available as well as a large selection of homemade cakes, tray bakes and scones. Our specialities are Homemade Soups, Welsh Rarebits, Quiches and Traditional Afternoon Teas. Our own recipe scones, lemon meringue pie and fresh fruit almond cakes earned us a place in The Guardians Top Ten Budget Eats - Yorkshire Coast 2010.

“A Hidden Gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2013

Tucked away on a side street the Francis Tea Rooms came a welcome shock, a quirky place where the tables are in individual booths, the selection of teas is huge. The freshly baked tarts and cakes tasted as good as the looked, with the savoury accompanied by lovely salads. Sandwiches and platters are also available, and look stunning, the staff are friendly and as quirky (in a good way) as the surroundings! You cannot come to Yorkshire without coming here!

“A Gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 21, 2013

We visited Francis Tea Rooms with two friends in mid December for a late lunch. This is a delightful tea room and well worth a visit. The food was very good and the service was excellent. The couple who run the tea room made us feel very welcome.

Many thanks, John, Diane, Karen & Alan

“Unique, quirky, fun”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 13, 2013

Absolutely delightful setting in an old hairdresser's shop, with wooden cubicles each furnished with a table , vintage linen and crockery. Lovely food - I had a freshly baked cranberry tart which made a really pleasant seasonal change from a mince pie. Good value too, and the owners are really friendly. Don't miss if visiting Scarborough, this is really special. And I'm delighted as its just round the corner from where I live!
