We've just arrived back from an horrendous weekend at Cayton Bay, but please keep reading. The problem had nothing to do with the park but was due to the fact that our Granddaughter was really ill. She was sick during the night and we had to ask at reception if we could hire more bed linen and pay for the soiled linen to be cleaned, they said it wasn't necessary for us to pay for the cleaning and offered to drop off extra linen at no cost. They did this very quickly and even left a spare set of linen which thankfully we didn't need. They could easily have made a few more pounds out of us and I think it's a credit to them that they didn't take advantage of bad situation. Thank you Park Resorts

Never ever ever staying in 1 of their vans again, got to the van at 6 fri evening, van was freezing!! put the 1 and only fire on to warm it up - would get more warmth off a candle ! so on the way to the Boat Stop we popped into reception to ask for the fire to be looked at - off we went for a coule of drinks . . . absolute rip off !!!! very over priced and filthy urine stinking toilets, the floor was swimming in wee, got back to the van about 11.30 & you guessed it , nobody had looked at the fire. If not for the fact of being over the drink limit we would of come home, Next morning every item of clothing was wet, on our way out i popped in again to ask about the fire, they promised to check ti, so off we went to the coast again for the day, got back last night and still no fire - plus the calor bottle had been taken ! hence we are now home doing LEMSIP !!!

Room Tip: Dont go !!!

Paid for bronze caravan as we had dogs so understood it would be basic. Clean inside and roomy but the fact that there was one gas fire to
Heat up the whole caravan is an absolute disgrace this late on in the year. My two year old daughter had tears rolling down her face as she walked from her room to ours and when I picked her up to put her in our bed her hands were literally like ice blocks. Her face was freezing cold so she spent both nights in with us as I was too frightened to put her in her own bed.
I never thought in a million years that a gas fire would be all you got at the end of September. We asked staff for an extra heater and they said no because we were in bronze caravans. Since when did standard accommodation mean that your stay would be so unbearably uncomfortable and dangerous for young children? We always stay in basic as we spend majority of break doing activities but this is the first time sleeping has been so uncomfortable and miserable. After reading comments on here I realise now that others have had similar problems and that they tell you on website that you do get a gas fire but come on park resorts. . Is this acceptable in this day and age? If haven, center parcs and butlins can make basic stay comfortable then why can't you? 150 quid for 2 night's of this is an absolute disgrace and it's such a shame as resident band were brilliant and site generally very pleasant. If you will not offer some for of heating in the colder months then please add. . Bring your own heater on your dont forget to bring list at least.

Stayed as part of The Sun holiday promotion. Have been on loads of caravan holidays so know what to expect.

No heating in the van, but we were prepared with our own heater and hot water bottles!

Paid for beds to be made on arrival, there wasn't even any linen for us to do it ourselves. But within 10 minutes of phoning the on site security (reception was closed) they brought some out.

Gas ran out, but again within 10 minutes, it was replaced.

Cleanliness was poor. The blind in the shower room was filthy, under one of the beds in the twin room was a curtain and a teaspoon?

Dishes which obviously aren't used often needed a thorough clean before using.

There was mould on the windows which I'm sure wouldn't take a lot to remove.

Ate in the Boathouse restaurant twice, the first night was fine, had steak and chips. Cooked to perfection. The second night, I couldn't bite into the yorkshire pudding wrap as it had been overcooked (microwaved) and was served with no gravy.

The drinks in the bar were expensive.

No car parking next to the van, had to park about 4 caravans away. Nightmare for unpacking & repacking.

Good selection of machines within the arcades.

Entertainment was of the usual standard, but as it was end of season, it seemed a bit lack lustre.

All in all, an average stay. Wouldn't recommend this park to stay in.

Room Tip: Upgrade wherever possible to include heating!

Haveing just returned from a break we have used park resorts before and we always have to go in bronze as we take aa re dog but just because we take a dog does not mean that the cleaniness of the caravan should be any different fom one of the higher grades but it was dont think none of the sides had been cleaned down we had to clean the shower before we could use it ,no instructions on how to use gas fire but someone did come out and show use ,the light in the kitchen area worked when it wanted to small portable tv thought they should move into the 21st centry .and just a warning to people that may take their own bedding like we do when we arrived their was no mattress cover when i phoned and asked why they said they dont in bronze caravans as i said to the girl we have stayed before and they have been on i would have thought they should all be done to the same standard which ever site you stay at .(we went and bought one because they wouldnt give us one ).we had 4 days of rain so outside caravan was very very muddy so i think they need to but slabs down needed the wellies didnt use any of the facilities coz not allowed with dogs .lots of vans for sale a pitty they dont keep their rental vans as clean and tidy as they where.oh and forgot the mattress that was on the bed was to big for the bedframe.ivy 22
