“Not bad for what you pay”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 14, 2013 via mobile

Have stayed here previously and was fine, this time also ok. Upon arrival the remote for the tv wouldn't work and the main light would not come on properly, it just flickered all the time. We reported the faults on our way out that evening, and was told it would be sorted immediately, on our return, the remote worked fine, but the light was just the same, and stayed like that all weekend.
Staff on reception were fine, but was a little annoyed that an easily rectified fault was not sorted out.

We have stayed here previously and as a budget hotel it offers brilliant value for money. It is handy for the town centre and has stunning views of the sea albeit from the road outside the hotel. The parking @ £10.00 for 24 hours in the car park at the bottom of the road is a bit excessive but the car was safe and under cover so worth it.
The first room we were given was very cold but we went to reception and they moved us straight away, the young man at reception couldn't have been more helpful. As we were only sleeping in the room it offered exactly what it says on the tin - value accomodation. The room was spotlessly clean and as an avid 4 In a Bed viewer I did check for all the usual "nasties" and I can honestly say we couldn't find fault. The only thing was the bed had a tendancy to throw us together in the middle but after a few drinks even that wasn't an issue. Would definately stay again and recommend it.
We didn't have breakfast as I could not justify paying over £15.00 for the 2 of us but that was the only thing that Travelodge could look in to changing.

This was No.4 of our 8 Travelodge stays this trip. Right opposite the Grand Hotel (wonder what they paid?) We had a large family room on 2nd floor. As usual with 3 adults staying, I was on the sofa bed in the bay window, with a great view of the sea. No problem getting our usual extras of pillows, hairdryer and extra tea & milk. Great value for money at £25 for 3 of us. Forward planning gets great deals. Out for breakfast, and onward to Keighley.

This is the worst Travelodge we have stayed in. We had to change rooms as the first one had constant running water. Would have changed again but there were no other rooms available. We ended up in a tiny room with just enough room for a bed , one chair and a tiny sheft for the kettle etc. The bathroom was dirty, when we flushed the toilet it sounded like a jet engine taking off 20 yards away. The noise continued for eighty seconds and ended in a screech. There were kitchen exhaust fans outside our bedroom window which ran until10.30pm and then started up at 5.00am. The window was filthy and when I opened it the sill was covered with seagull feathers and droppings. The view was of a brick wall at the other side of the kitchen roof. Good points, staff were very pleasant. and hot water plentiful.

Great location, breakfast plentiful but expensive,£15.40 for 2 not bad if you have kids because they eat free, found cafe not far for better breakfast at 2 for £10 could be hotter, plates cold, one couple in our group had to Change rooms 3 times 1st room no heating 2nd no bedding 3rd room ok but couldn't change channels on tele.but settled for that as they were fed up by then as that took 1hr to sort out. Parking outside Travelodge is expensive £4.40 for every 3 hrs between 9am-6pm cost us £30.80 from 9am Fri till 12 Sunday dinner so adding these costs to the £91.50 for 2 nights bed we could have booked somewhere nicer

This is one of the worse Travelodge hotels I have stayed in. Noisy, squeaky floor boards, the lift area smells of damp - despite the motion detector air freshener sprays - and the building is in need of an internal tear down and rebuild.
That said, the staff are simply brilliant. The sink and shower in room 415 would not drain and the staff did everything they could to fix it for me. When they ancient pipework could just not be sorted they moved me to a fresh room, and helped move my bags. This was reflective of a general approach of the staff where nothing was too much for them, and they would go out of their way to make one's stay.
Unfortunately, there is only so much they can do with a work out building.
Travelodge, you need to up your game. the Premier Inn around the corner is twice the price, but three times as good.
Hoteliers in Scarborough, if you are looking for staff, I know where you should fishing

Room Tip: Rooms looking towards the Grand Hotel - Nice view, noisy Seagulls Rooms at the back - no view, but...

I recently stayed at this Travelodge and it was the most uncomfortable stay. We came up here for one night for a friends surprise 40th and it was filthy. I booked a family room for four and the beds was hard and springy as anything, there was dirt on the quilt covers and stains on the mattresses. there was also dirt all over the radiators. the room was full of dust. I will never be attending this travelodge again.

P.S, try booking somewhere else.

Room Tip: worst place to stay. Try to book somewhere else.
