“Delightful little restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 15, 2012

An excellent meal, with friendly and helpful service from Kate Moore and colleague.
We stayed the night in a comfortable bedroom above the restaurant, which was good value for £50. Jonathan Moore, who runs his restaurant single-handed, also cooked my full English breakfast .

“Great little restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 21, 2012

Only 2nd visit in 2 years (as only able to go when on holiday in Sidmouth). Hoping food would be as good as last year, but it surpassed it. Ate out every night while on holiday and visited some well known restaurants and gastropubs while in Devon and this little restaurant is a good as the best of them and better than most, the fillet steak was melt in the mouth, and the desserts are fantastic. It's really friendly and because it's small it's like eating with friends. Wish we were able to visit more often, but we'll be back next year.

“Excellent Celebration lunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 17, 2012

We'd heard that Moore's did good food. That proved entirely true - though I'm not a gourmet. We were celebrating a 90th birthday. I'm disabled (and not 90!) and in a wheelchair. From the moment we drew up, Kate was there to welcome and assist us. Our lunch was in the conservatory, a light and intimate setting for our party. Every attention to detail had been taken, including a special menu for the occasion. The menu itself provided a thorough selection. All of us had different mains and they were each beautifully cooked and presented, as were all the courses. The chef, Jonathan, clearly knows his business. And the service was attentive but not obtrusive. In addition we were really made to feel at home. I can't fault anything!

“Well up to its usual standard”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2012

I visit this restaurant every few months and have never come away unhappy. Sure, the outside is a little unpreposessing (it's a former village shop) but the tables are attractive and the room is clean and well decorated. Nice glasses, cutlery, etc. The menu is reassuringly short, three courses with four or five choices for each. The evening menu was £18.50 for two courses, plus £5.50 for a desert. The wine was good, and at reasonable prices. We all enjoyed our food, which was well cooked and "interesting" without being too fussy. All of this is topped off by Kate who has mastered the art of being genuinely welcoming and friendly while keeping the plates flowing to and from the kitchen.

“Five star service and cuisine”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2012

My wife and I decided to celebrate our wedding anniversary by having lunch at Moores. Although we mentioned this when booked we did not expect to receive such super personal service. As we were shown to our table we noticed love hearts confetti amongst the cutlery and napkins!

Then when we were presented with the menu we noticed they had been personalised with our names and recognition of our anniversary.

The fish was superb and was accompanied with freshly made tartare sauce. The quality of the food and the attention to detail of its presentation was first rate.

Kate and Jonathon put a great deal into their business and it shows. Well done. We both look forward to our next visit.
