“Fantastic meal with fantastic service to match.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 26, 2013

I went to the this restaurant last weekend with high expectations due to the briliant reviews of this place. I was not dissapointed. From the minute i sat down the staff were so polite and helpful. The meal was fantastic and one of the best indian meals i have ever had. I would especially recomend the tandoori king prawn makhani or the sidmouth special mixed grill which tickled my taste buds. I will be going there again very soon!

“No drinks licence but food top notch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2013

you can take your own wine so not a huge problem that they do not have a drinks licence. Food top notch and run by a lovely family. Would recommend the prawn balti, and although I couldn't find it on the menu, they made me a palak paneer and it was delicious! :-)

“Ok meal, expected a bit more”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 13, 2012

If there was a grade between average and very good i think it would have been there as the meals were ok but we've had better. Chicken let down the curry in an nice sauce, not much fresh tasting food with as veg was tinned in curry and not overly flavoursome. Sundries fine. Starters very good. Service efficient but not overly friendly so did'nt make me feel that I wanted to hurry back/recommend. Busy place though so have to hand it to them, maybe just an off night.
Good you can bring your own wine etc and they do takeaways

“Food that defies its surroundings.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2012 via mobile

Excellent food! The king prawn Jhalfrezi with the tips of the tail shell kept on so you could scoop up the hot bursting with flavour sauce were a triumph. Eat with your eyes closed though as the place itself is a bit of a dive which is a shame.

“Quaint little Indian, bring your own Drinks”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 28, 2012

This friendly and busy little Indian restaurant is a good all-round winner with a café atmosphere.
It serves a good standard of Indian food and allows you to purchase your own alcohol which is great because the local store is 3 doors down and they sell my favourite rose vino (no corkage fee).
The restaurant is small and basic and at times very busy this also includes the take-away which can amount to extra people in the small area.
The staff are usually young locals who do try to please.
When in Sidmouth I always choose this restaurant over others because it’s busy for one reason, it’s good. I only had one issue in many visits they burnt my naan bread!
If you require a big plush restaurant with a calmer and more relaxed atmosphere then go elsewhere but the food may not be as good or the drinks to your choice.
One point the loo could have better décor and updating.
I shall return when in East Devon.
