“Essential part of any visit to Sidmouth”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 26, 2013

The location is fantastic - with tables in a courtyard in the beautiful walled Connaught gardens on the clifftop with views from the cafe overlooking the beach and bay. The cakes are enormous and mostly delicious, although some of the more unusual flavours may not be to everyone's taste (I wasn't so keen on a parsnip one). If you're visiting Sidmouth then it's worth making the climb from the seafront at least once.

“Scrummy cakes in a great location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2013

They do have the most massive scrummy cakes here, not that most of us have any spare calorie capacity.  The views are the best around and it is very pleasant to sit in the garden in the summer.  Staff can be a bit 'worn out', it's probably the stairs.  One assistant has been working here for probably twenty years, and she could do with a day off !  Always very clean, good service but a little on the pricey side, then again you pay for the location.  You have to walk here, one way or the other and the car parking nearby is pricey.  On the whole you'll probably enjoy your cake indulgence and visit.  Disabled OK downstairs.

“Best place ever!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 20, 2013

We are lucky enough to live in East Devon and regularly make the trip to take friends and visitors to the Clocktower. We have never been disappointed, either by the food, the staff or the views! Everyone we have taken over the past five years has been impressed by the standard and quality of the food and even on a wet and windy day, the scenery is stunning and there is always something different on the menu to tempt you in. This time it was the sticky toffee apple cake! Wow! We've usually been for lunch before, but this time we thought 'afternoon tea, why not?'. The portions are huge (although the three of us that had the apple cake somehow managed to squeeze the last few crumbs in) and my partner had the scone - which was almost the size of the plate it was served on! The coffee was delicious too. This place is truly a wonderful find and we hope more people take advantage of it - but leave us some sticky toffee apple cake please!

“GREAT PLACE”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2013

The Clock Tower Tearooms is situated within Conaught Gardens, and is a must place to visit whilst in Sidmouth. We visited everyday for coffee and their speciality cakes. The tearooms are open all year, although shorter opening hours in the winter season. East Devon Council must be very proud of these attractions, which clearly they work tirelessly to maintain. The gardens hold open air concerts over the summer and are a must to see.
