I really don't know where to start. The hotel itself presents a shabby ,down-at-heel image not helped by mattresses propped up in a corridor and a computer monitor sitting on the floor behind the front door. The best, however, was saved for me when I arrived in my 'superior' room @ £95 per night. I was immediately aware of a peculiar aroma which pervaded the room and which I traced to a kitchen type fridge which clearly had not been cleaned for months if not years and from which emanated what I can only describe as a foul stench. Curtains did not fully cover the windows and the curtain tie-backs in the bathroom were either mouldy or so old as to appear so, I did not get close enough to find out. The crowning glory of this experience occurred when I pulled back the bedding to find that the sheets appeared not to have been changed after the previous occupant and were what I can only politely describe as 'soiled'. When summoned to change the bedding, the staff tried to persuade me that these were just laundry marks! Breakfast is served in the Indian Restaurant situated on the ground floor. The table cloth had clearly not been changed from the previous night as evidenced by the liberal spread of curry stains on it. I have to say that the bacon and eggs were edible and the staff generally were pleasant but the place needs a total clean from top to bottom and needs to be managed by someone who knows something about the hotel trade. Whoever gave it three stars was either blind or daft, most probably both!
