“Scalini”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2013

Scalini's is a brilliant, traditional Italian restaurant ( A little taste of Italy!) The food is perfect quality, authentic and Italian portion sizes to match! The staff are very attentive, hospitable and can't do enough for you.
The Cantuccini biscuits are delicious with coffee. Definatley worth a visit to experience this for yourself.

“Just as we hoped”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2013

We understood this establishment was being run by one of the former managers from San Carlo (Darria) and his partner, immediately recognised and a warm welcome was had.

This restaraunt delivers where it matters, atmosphere, the restaraunt was full, save 1 table for two, a busy but not manic level of activity, food, freshly prepared, we had 2 lemon sole dishes (a special) and a chicken with aubergine and mozzarella fantatstic, generous portions, service, not had such attentative service throughout any meal in any location before, first class from all the staff. As it should be

We were the last to leave 3 of us and all agreed we will be back soon.

“Average food and very poor service”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2013

This was our first time eating here and we were really looking forward to some good quality authentic Italian food....

We should probably have realised that there was something wrong when the olives and breadsticks were brought out 10 minutes after we had finished our aperitfs...

The starters were ok but honestly no better than that

We then waited over an hour before our mains were served despite us expressing our concerns regarding the wait.

My seabass had probably been ok when it was cooked but had obviously been sat under a warming lamp for the time that we were waiting and consequently was dried out. My friends's 'Gamberoni Scalini' (£18) turned out to be a plate of rice with 6 pranwns in a creamy sauce

Lemon sole from the specials board was reported to be ok but nothing special

The additional sde of zucchini friti was soggy ang tasted of cheap cooking oil.

They did discount a bottle of Pinot Grigio from our bill and comped a plate of warm fruit with very average ice-cream

Despite this, I suspect that Hades will be having a very chilly day before I return to this restaurant.

Very disappointed...

“Amazing food and amazing service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 7, 2013

We have eaten here a number of times and on each occasion the food and service has been fantastic. We have tried a number of items on the menu and the specials and each has been very tasty and authentic italian food cooked by real italians.
