“Great value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2014

A wee bit threadbare in places and looking too much like Bates Motel for comfort, our room was very comfortable with all the facilities we needed. Excellent value, much quiter than you would expect for the location and well worth staying there again.

Room Tip: Book early for a family room

Though not much to look at from the outside, the Altrincham Lodge is a decent place to stay for a very modest price; my girlfriend and I paid only 42 pounds. The staff when we checked in at night and when we checked out in the morning were very nice and helpful. The room, though small, was cozy and clean. There was something of a slight mold problem in the shower, but other than that, things were neat and tidy. The beds are comfortable, and we had a nice, quiet night's sleep.

You also get free wifi, which I would not have expected considering the low price of the room. You can also get breakfast next door at the pub, which I think is partnered up in some way with the hotel.

In short, the rooms may be very compact, but for this price, you could do far far worse.

It's probably easier to start with the positives.

The bed was comfy. (that being the only positive)

I arrived at this 1960's style open prison in mid june. I arrived to check in at just after 3pm where I was greeted by what can only be described as the most unwelcoming receptionist I've ever had the misfortune to run into . ( If you've ever watched the television programme "little britain" well the receptionist resembled the "computer says no" lady )

After being given my key I was told my room was in the furthest away part of the "wing" After walking for what felt like hours I finally arrived at room number 47. Now bearing in mind it was mid june and the country was experiencing a really warm spell , the clever people in charge of this dump decided that rather than let their guests relax in their rooms it would be a far better idea to roast them alive! The heating was on full blast!.

If you want to know what Hell is like , visit this place !

Room Tip: Yes, don't book here ! You'd be better booking into a hospital than staying at this heel hol...

I would like to thank this"guest" for the review with the most lies i have ever seen anyone take the time to write. Whilst not the prettiest of hotels to describe it as a prison is just laughable. To resort to insulting my staff just shows what a rude person this "lady" is when someone is only trying to do their job and the guest cannot be bothered to listen to the information. The hotel is not big enough to walk hours?? to the rooms, the furthest room from reception is not even 5 minutes away so the exageration is ridiculous. The heating was turned off months ago the rooms are warm because believe it or not the sun shines in although closing the curtains and putting on the fan provided would have helped. Perhaps if the guest had taken the trouble to speak to reception we may have been able to change her room but if she speaks to people the same way as she writes her reviews perhaps its better she didnt..

We were looking for a cheap deal on somewhere to sleep after a night out locally and this did the treat.
It isn't a glamorous place, but the bedding was clean and we slept well. The rest of the hotel and room was not clean, scatter cushions on the bed look like they have never been washed and I did not like the look of the shower, but for just somewhere to lay your head and not spend any time it was fine. Breakfast is in the pub that is attached to the hotel and is cheap and good.
I doubt we will stay again but it did the job for what we needed.

Stayed here before meeting family from a long haul flight coming into Manchester airport at 7.30am. Twin room on ground floor was smallish but okay, with usual budget hotel stuff. Bathroom again small (you would n't want to be on the larger side to fit in the shower!) but reasonably clean. Parking easy in courtyard, staff very pleasant on reception, good location for the airport - only 10 mins drive away. Pelican Inn ( Sizzling) adjoining was usual British pub grub,
again okay but nothing special. Lots of takeaway outlets within 5 mins walk, and a small Co-Op too which was handy.
Overall an okay stay, especially at the price, but tbh have stayed in better Travelodges for less.

We stayed here for two nights the staff are lovely. The hotel really needs a refit the drawers have handles missing, the bathroom is very dated and not very clean the overflow in the sink has never been cleaned. I think who did the decorating should have wiped the paint off the wood that is not painted and the bathroom door is yellow with age. And I have stayed in better for less money.

Had a one night stay here as was on an early flight from Manchester. Wasn't expecting much for £40 but was pleasantly surprised on arrival. Looks like an American motel but couldn't fault it. Staff on reception couldn't do enough for us, rooms spotless, great shower, hairdryer, tea& coffee making. Comfortable beds. Even locked our luggage away for us.
Great pub on the doorstep with fantastic food.
Will not hesitate to return.
Thank you.
