“Quaint and cozy”

Loch Kinord Hotel

We stayed at the Loch Kinord during an October trip to Scotland. We chose the hotel for the location (close to a nearby village where we were attending a wedding party) and we thoroughly enjoyed our 2-night stay. The inn has a warm, "homey" feel to it, and the inn keeper was always around to make us feel welcome. The first evening that we arrived around sunset and we were starving. After walking to the nearby loch to take some pictures of the beautiful sunset, we returned for dinner. With no car of our own and few options nearby, we chose to dine in the inn that evening. The menu was small, but fancy. The food was decent, but a bit more expensive than we expected. We asked our server for bread and she brought us each one piece.

Our room was clean and cozy. The bed wasn't the most comfortable one of the trip, but it wasn't bad. It was chilly during that time of year and we made use of the separate heating units in the bedroom and bathroom. The bathroom was a decent size, though some additional room/shelves for toiletries would have been nice. My husband used the unique built-in clothing press to iron his pants.

The Loch Kinord is a sweet place nestled in beautiful countryside. Visit nearby Burn o' Vat for a nice hike and stunning views. We enjoyed our visit and would stay here again.

The located of the hotel is excellent and the Loch behind the hotel is great for a walk. The staff are so helpful as were the company that booked our 2 night stay ( Classic Britain) I would highly recommend this hotel.

“Fantastic Hotel and Area”

A fantastic hotel in lovely countryside. Excellent food and staff. One of the best we have stayed in. Lots to do in the area, and a nice walk round the Loch at the rear of the hotel.

Maybe we stayed at a bad time but our experience didn't quite live up to some of the other reviews on this site.

We were there at a weekend & the place was packed - though you'd only know it at breakfast time as otherwise the hotel was very quiet. The room was very small - smaller than any hotel rooms I've stayed in in London where the price / sq foot must be much more expensive for the owners. We were probably only paying for a standard room & the bathroom was the smallest I've ever come across! Couldn't have been move than about 2.5ft x 5ft under sloping eves, so you had to bend down to see in the mirror, no natural light, shower thats so awkwardly installed that you can't set the shower head at a reasonable level without the cable cutting right across the shower area - oh & the shower was so feeble that if you went outside in a similar shower, you probably wouldn't bother putting a jacket on to protect yourself.

The room itself wasn't particularly clean, but did have the tv, hairdryer, coffee facilities you'd expect, though nothing out of the ordinary.

We ate there one night & had an acceptable meal though pricey for what it was. Most of us had steak (asked for 'rare' & got more like 'well done'), but it wasn't hideous. Maybe the chefs night off again. You might be better off eating at the tearooms a few doors away.

On the plus side, its a cosy place & the staff are friendly and accommodating.

Basically it's fine, but at the price you'd expect a lot more. For a similar price you can stay up the road at Dinnet house - which IS worth the price.
