Its a nice enough looking restaurant but not really the look of an ethnic place. The panellling and decorum owe much more to the original usage of the premises than to the current occupiers. The food was tasty enough but authenticity is questionable as is floor staff knowledge.
its also a little pricy and let down by the location and yes I know they cant do anything about that but before opening any business surely location is considered.

Overall I would go again but not in a hurry

“A hidden secret...”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2012

Although not from Carlisle I come regulary for a meal followed by a night out. As I hadnt been in a while and fancied somewhere different found this place on Trip Advisor. Being above a pub with just a staircase up it easily be missed.
Lovely meal, mixed meat starter that comes on a brilliant sizzling plater followed by sizzling steak and spicy chips for my boyfriend and stir fry with angel hair noodles for me. Its always nice to try something different and we played it safe but if we returned I'd love to try something much more adventurous! The heat in the dishes is deceptive and really builds up on you!
Staff are lovely, resturant setting is lovely and romantic and if you book online you get 15% off food!
Would definatley reccomend!

“Superb!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2012

I travel a great deal for work across the UK, eating at an array of restaurants, and can attest that the service and quality of food at the Royal Outpost is superb!

Staff were exceptionally friendly, the restaurant has wonderful period details and the food is very well priced. Highly recommended.
