“Wonderful welcome, fantastic setting!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2012

Our stay was unfortunately a brief one, but on arrival we were given the warmest of welcomes. The location was stunning. Heads Nook Hall is a beautiful building full of character and grandeur; our room, the 'Yellow Room' was luxurious and well appointed with a gorgeous bathroom. We really revelled in the comfort. We were in the area for wedding in the next village and returned in the evening to find Julie still up. We enjoyed a cuppa with her in the farmhouse style kitchen and chatted for ages. It was like visiting family with bells on!! Oh and the breakfast next morning....WOW...delicious doesn't do it justice. I love Heads Nook Hall, it's wonderful and you really won't find a better welcome. Thank you xx

Room Tip: Yellow Room had fantastic views. The sun flooded in, in the morning!

We stayed for one night and could not get over how quick we wound down. From walking through the grand doors and being met by Julie you were put at ease by the warm welcome and the feeling that this was a grand extension to your own home. The location is second to none with wonderful views and gardens. The hall itself is full of wonderful period features that make you feel as though you are living in a different era, a very grand one at that! The breakfast is very good and cooked to order with a wide selection of fruits and cereals also available. All in all you will go a long way to find as nice a place to stay. Will definitely stay again soon!

This was our first visit to Cumbria (a couple of southern softies) and we can`t imagine a better choice of accommodation for a couple of nights. Location, room, breakfast and welcome all exceptional. There were roaring open fires in both dining and sitting rooms in mid September.
The village of Heads Nook is ideal for visiting Carlisle, Hadrian`s Wall and other places of interest in northern Cumbria and would be an ideal stop-over en route to/from Scotland. We hope to return one day.

A lovely old hall resplendent with oak panelling and period features; we found it daunting initially but the warmth of the welcome soon eliminated all our concerns. The location is splendid and the breakfasts generous, well cooked and well presented. Hook Nook Hall is well placed for many interesting sights including Hadrian's Wall and Carlisle and there aresome very good places to eat within a few miles.

I have delayed writing a review of this beautiful, peaceful place because i have been in two minds about sharing it with the rest of the world thus risking not getting a room next time(there are only 3). Once you have stayed at Heads Nook Hall you will want to return, I can't imagine anyone not. There are many reasons , Julie the delightful House Manager, the gorgeous, generously portioned breakfasts, the wonderfully comfortable rooms with fabulous bathrooms and then there is Malcolm, proprietor and all round helpful friendly chap. Nothing is too much trouble, it is a rare these days to arrive and feel instantly at home, to be offered afternoon tea and for it to not to be an extra charge.I was staying at HNH while I was at the Ram sales at Carlise, mucky trailer attached to the back of my 4x4. It wasn't a problem, they couldn't have been more accommodating about having my filthy vehicle parked by the side of this lovely building. After a long drive from Aberdeen a roaring fire in the drawing room along with afternoon tea was bliss. I thoroughly recomned a stay here, for business, for pleasure, who cares, enjoy , it's a lovely place run by lovely people who take pleasure in making sure you are well looked after.

Room Tip: Blue room is the bees knees, but the other two rooms are just as nice and well appointed, one has a...

This was our second stay at Heads Nook Hall and we will be returning. Very conveniently located for a stopover en route to Scotland. Rooms are large and comfortable - lovely fires welcome you both in sitting room and in palatial and imposing dining room for breakfast served beautifully by Julie. Malcolm the owner will eagerly give you any information you need regarding local restaurants etc., (& there are several!) - he kindly showed us a separate 2xbedroom apartment now almost ready for occupation - staying there would be a great option if planning on staying for some days in the area . Can highly recommend this qiuiet and peaceful accommodation....BRAY - WILTSHIRE
