The food here is unfailing faultless and even more than you might hope from, what is, after all, a cookery school. To my mind it beats the Wivenhoe House bistro into a cocked hat. It's not only the great quality but the price that is staggering. Where else might you pay eight quid for three delicious and imaginative courses plus a glass of wine and a coffee? I have eaten my best-ever plate of guinea fowl here in the past.
Be prepared for (very occasionally) slightly gauche waiters/waitresses but remember that they are still learning their trade and treat them gently. They deserve encouragement.
The Bistro now accepts (a limited number of) reservations at lunch-time.
