Before I say anything else, to be fair, I spent about 6 hours in total in the hotel as this was a working weekend...
Booked last minute via Expedia - when I arrived at the hotel about an hour later they didn't have the booking - not sure which side the let-down was on.
I ended up with a 'single' room, which didn't fill me with confidence as I dislike single beds, however the room was actually quite nice and the bed was more like a 4ft so was actually very nice. The room was reasonably well equipped, although I couldn't fathom the bedside lights - don't know why so many hotels make the use of lighting such a challenge!
My room was on the front of the hotel (High Street side) and the street is VERY noisy (this was a Saturday night) so be warned - if you want a quieter night keep away from that side of the hotel, although in a city centre I guess any side could be noisy...
I spent about 3 hours in the hotel (7pm-10pm) before going back to work - no room service so bought a sandwich from the bar - very average. Shame - the bar area is very lovely and cosy.
I returned to the hotel at 7am and slept till about 10am undisturbed, which was great, but obviously missed breakfast so can't comment on that.
Checkout took quite a long time - lots of people and very friendly chatty staff - all of the staff were very friendly and helpful.
