“Good value break”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2013

We also booked the Chatsworth House deal through Great Little Breaks , we were pleasantly surprised at how good the hotel was even though we had read the reviews.
It is quite a modern hotel so nothing to look at but the room was big & clean with a big shower with a seat come shelf to put all your toiletries on so as they didn't all get soaking wet, plenty of storage & good working air conditioning.
We were greeted by a very friendly receptionist who was very helpful with giving directions to near by attractions.
We found out during our stay that all the rest of the staff were just as helpful & friendly.
We had the evening meal included in the package the first night & it was so good that we booked a meal there for the second night & were given a voucher for 20% of a bottle of house wine for the second night.
Breakfast was also good, it was a buffet breakfast but you could order scrambled or poached eggs freshly cooked which I did the second morning, there was plenty of choice of cereal , fruit , yoghurt , fruit juice & cold meat & cheese as well as cooked breakfast, sausage, bacon, black pudding, , mushrooms ,tomatoes & beans & again it was all served with a smile.
Would definitely stay at this hotel again if we were in the area

Bought the weekend "Chatsworth " deal for £69....includes 2 night stay, free tickets to Chatsworth with packed lunches, wine at the table with a 3 course meal on the first night. Sounds too good to be true but believe me it turned out to be a fantastic weekend, the Hotel was clean, rooms large & well presented, staff were friendly & helpful. The sea bass dinner as part of the deal was as good as you would get in any restaurant in our home town of Stratford on Avon & there are many of them..

Stayed at this hotel because of its proximity to Chatsworth House (tickets for which were included in the deal) First impressions on booking were excellent. Pleasant, efficient and extremely helpful and that applied to all staff. Well looked after in the dining room by Shelbie & Gemma in particular. Food was varied and extremely good. Had a huge room with excellent facilities. Housekeeping runs a good ship.
Sheffield city has a One Way Traffic System in operation which at best is frightening especially if you don't have sat nav! Visited Boundary Mill Stores which is only about 5 minutes drive from the hotel. Very interesting indeed. Chatsworth House of course is the jewel in the crown in this area and is spectacular - one for the memory book! Don't forget to visit the award winning Farm Shop - whilst still on Chatsworth Estate - it is a little distanced from the main attraction but is superb.

This is the third time I have stayed here. Something has gone dramatically wrong. The standard of food has declined and the service is slow.
The Bar prices beggar belief. £4.85 for a bottle of Abbot Ale! Strangely the price dropped to £3.25 (not unreasonable) when I had a second bottle with my meal. What's this all about? The mark-up is excessive and prompted me not to purchase anything else from the bar as I felt I was being ripped off.
Fortunately the standard of the accommodation remains high, with really comfortable beds and spotless rooms. The reception staff are exceptionally helpful and friendly.
No doubt I will be there again, but hope they can rethink their price structure and improve the standard of the food.

Room Tip: All the rooms appear similar and I have had a good night's sleep each visit.

Good business hotel which offers great deals . We had a two night stay with a meal on one of the nights and a visit to Chatsworth House. The rooms were really clean and good and the service generally was excellent. The food was exceptional as it was all cooked well inhouse rather than those chains offering 'pre prapared food' We had Salmon steaks, lamb shanks and very good seafood risotto.
Can definately recommend this hotel as the staff take ownership of it for the customers enjoyment

We stayed at the Aston Hotel, Sheffield last weekend. What a great find! Excellent rooms, very comfy beds. Very quiet location and easy to finD off the Motorway; this could also be a downside as it is nowhere near anywhere in either Sheffield or nearby Rotherham. We didn't stay to eat in the Brasserie but had breakfast next morning, plenty of both choice and quantity.
Staff were pleasant, efficient and the whole place was clean and modern. Only downside for me in the public areas were the carpets....light coloured and showing their age...too many stains. The hotel has only been there since 2008 but these carpets need replacing. I would definitely stay there again. The carpets were really a small part of an enjoyable over night stay.
