“WOW ! - Really good banqueting venue”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 28, 2013

We went to a Burns Night banquet with about 400 people in the grand hall. It was incredible !

The grand hall is like a huge marquee inside the vast cavern of the old steel works. With snow on the ground outside we thought it would be cold but NO! it was just right.

The room is so big that they were able to have two military bands playing and marching at the same time. Massive TV screens meant good experience of the ceremonial parts of the evening and the sound system was very clear too.

The service was of the highest quality. Every course was piping hot or chilled to perfection and served with the efficiency of a top class restaurant and by an army of cheerful staff.

The food was of an unexpectedly high quality. Form first to last, served at exactly the right temperature and of a standard of a smaller restaurant rather than mass catering. The grand hotels of London could learn a thing or two about mass catering from the chefs at Magna. This venue is so big it could easily cater for over 1,000 (I guess)

The spectacular vastness of the setting, the location near the M1 and the ease of parking make it a perfect event venue - as well as a great museum.

“Keeps the kids occupied for hours”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 24, 2013

We went as a family with four children aged six, eleven, fourteen and fifteen. The older three had been numerous times before, yet were still as engaged as the youngest!! Whilst it is expensive, if you take photo's (home printed are fine) for everyone, this cost covers you for a full year! There is a fabulous play park outside, which given the time of year, we didn't use! There was a bubble exhibition on which engaged adults and children alike for a good hour - no extra cost.

We did pay extra for the zip slide, and I did find the cafe on the first floor quite expensive for what was there. Would take a pack-up on next visit as there is a huge indoor "picnic" area!

On the whole, was really impressed as it is an ineractive learning experience which engages adults and children alike. Will certainly go back in the summer to play outside too..

“Brilliant day out with the children”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

We took our two grandchildren, 4 and 7 years, and they were awstruck at first, but soon got into the swing of things. This really is a 'hands on' sort of place, so don't go in fancy shoes or clothing. The kids can get a bit grubby and even wet! In the winter, we went in early January, it's a bit chilly in this old steel mill, so wear the right sort of clothing for the day and you won't be disappointed. Most things were running fine when we went. Kids are going later in the year with their mum & dad.
