“Christmas dinner dance”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2012

Myself and a party of 8 went to the Consort Suite on Saturday 22nd December - this was a great night out. The food was lovely with a good choice of food. The staff were very efficient in serving the meals. There was a live band on who were good and the range of music was good and varied catering for all music tastes. I would definitely return to the Consort suit. My only complaint was the lack of air conditioning in the room.

Been going to the newly refurbished Consort Hotel every year for our Christmas Party for the last 15 years, and it never fails to deliver.

The food is tasty and the night has a great atmosphere. There is always a good live band and disco until 1.00am

The only thing that could be improved, was the temperature.....it felt like a hundred degrees in there, but i would rather be too hot than too cold

Well recomended for a great all round night out.

Came here for a night after seeing Gillingham play Rotherham rather that going to a premier inn and I would have to say that I wish I had gone to a premier inn. When I first went into the room I thought this was going to be a great hotel but it turned out a bit different to what my first expectations were. The room was clean and I couldn't really fault that but it was after I had eaten at a separate beefeater that my thoughts of the hotel dropped. It was easy to get to sleep originally but after that I must have woken up at least 4 times. For a start the plumbing was going all night but the main problem was that the disco ran to at least midnight and you could hear it from the room we were in but I think that other rooms it would have been even louder. Also when I went down to breakfast the staff apart from when they said hello were misersble and sounded dull and not very welcoming.

Just had a one nighter here to try it as its location was convenient. Due to the last exec room being closed due to someone smoking apparently I had to have a standard room. Reception were very apologetic and offered us a couple of drinks to compensate. Quite honestly there was no need but it a was a nice gesture and at a very competitive £58 B&B I wasn't complaining. In fact all the staff were friendly and helpful. The room itself was perfectly adequate only let down by noisy and powerful heating coming on early in the morning (102). The food in the bistro was perfectly ok fo the money, the beer was good if a bit pricy at £4/pt. Good location, plenty of parking, I'll be back when in the area, it's quite a nice example of a Best Western.

This was a convenient hotel for a stay with family nearby but it was a terrible experience. The room was adequately decorated and spacious (we'd booked an executive room). However, that's where the good points ended.

The main issue was the extremely loud disco which ran from about 9.45pm to 12.30am. We'd had a long day and were already in bed when it started. We didn't want to get up and change rooms but it completely ruined our night's sleep.

Other problems were the staff at check in and check out who barely said a work and weren't at all welcoming, a poor breakfast (no choice of eggs offerred, no milk for the tea, limited choice of pastries), and a very dirty shower head in the bathroom which meant that I didn't have a shower in the morning.

Other than the location, which was perfect for our needs, this was the most disappointing hotel stay I have had in many years of travelling. We won't be returning.

My partner and I were visiting friends in Rotherham last weekend, so decided to stay at the Consort as it was well priced and ideally located. The hotel was clean, convenient and worth the money. I have to admit we were out through the day and only stayed one night so not around for long, but we enjoyed a delicious meal in the bistro and had a comfy night's sleep - which was all we were looking for. The staff were friendly and when I asked the young lady on reception for another towel, my request was attended to promptly. The hotel is perfect if you are looking for value for money and close proximity to Rotherham. We will definitely be staying again when visiting the area.
