our second visit some inprovments from our last visit seems to have been refurbed in places bedroom ok number317 bathroom very small you get what you pay for a bargain at £99 for two nights plus a steak dinner and a bottle of wine breakfast brilliant lots of choice eggs cooked as you like them. bollywood resturant best we have been to .the royal is near to the town but away from the hussle and bussle of skegness. if you want to go out in the evening the british legion club not far from the hotel is busy on a saturday night with a artist singer/comic.cheap drinks we will return to the royal the staff were great only one gripe our room 317 was right over the ballroom the country and weastern week ed was very noisy evan at 4 in the afternoon we could hear them singing over the television with the volume up.

Room Tip: dont book room 317 or rooms next to it

Room was clean, bed comfortable . Room badly needed sprucing up. Smallest bathroom I have ever been in but shower was hot and good. Room overlooked front car park and we were plagued with the noise of pigeons from dawn til dusk. Food was average. Evening meals better than breakfast. Drinks very reasonable.

Room Tip: Go for 3rd or 4th floor, facing sea - quieter.

In some respects this is a lovely hotel with its large public open spaces and with nice places to sit and read or get a drink. The staff are all friendly and helpful and our evening meal was very good.
BUT
Our room was very bad - in fact it was probably one of the worst rooms I've ever stayed in. It was VERY small and the mattress was terrible and needed replacing urgently. The room was clean though and we had no issues with how clean everywhere was.
The breakfast was ok - not great but not bad.
I wouldn't stay here again but I would recommend it to people but be careful what room you get.

After many years of holidays with a cross-section of accommodation providers in Skegness we have just returned from a superb four-night break at this jewel of service providers which we did not even know existed.in Skegness. The service, (reception, catering and room service) was all of a high standard. The food was plentiful and varied (especially the self-service breakfasts) and the service in the busy dining room was very well organised and quick We had no hesitation in arranging and looking forward to a return visit. .
We had personal experience of a nit-picker complaining of a particular sauce on her dinner - the menu did clearly indicate the meal did include this particular sauce. Another complaining because room service did not get to his room until during the afternoon because of staffing problems.
To all nit-pickers - GET A LIFE.

just back from a two day stay at this hotel 2 nights £132 we took a very small chow dog the room went up To £150 when we went to the dinning room they said we had not booked a meal and showed us to the hotel Indian restaurant £49 for the meal next morning we went for breakfast every one had there names on the tables but us we had to stand by the door for 10 minutes till a table came free even though 10 tables were empty cut my leg twice on the bed had 2 metal spike sticking thru the mattress see photos complained no good managers children running across the floor above our room the noise was terrible 7 am in the morning. don't stay on the 2 floor several guests also complained no good. A 1/2 of fosters was £1.75 and a glass a wine was £4.95 a 80 year old woman complained about £3.70 price for a high ball glass of advocate and lemonade she was told pay for it or we take it back and pour it down the sink. the rooms are very small and the lighting is only at one end of the room and very dim had to lift the case on to the bed to see inside we drove 4 hours to go here bad choice listened to the reviews on trip advisor now I told the truth not a bit of discount thru the bed hurting my leg .

Room Tip: Don't go on the 2nd floor very noisy and you certainly wont get a lie in.

Was very lucky with the weather for our weekend, was sunny and very warm for the time of year,
Hotel room small bathroom extrememly small, on the lower ground floor we was situated.
Everything was clean, and beds very comfortable, had a real good nights sleep.
Food here is very good standard, lots of people eating in the dining room at night,
and for £5.95 there was fish n chips. Gammon and egg,Roast of the Day,, Burger Stack,
very good value for money, wine by the bottle expensive, at £12.95 served for £9.95 apparently
when there is a coach load in,,,errm dont seem to understand that, seems quite unfair, which means of transport we took to arrive,
Breakfast was very good, hot replenished all the time and staff was very good too and so hardworking.
Would return.

Room Tip: Larger rooms seem to be on the top floor with balconys sea view.

We have stopped in this hotel before, and i must say it is still a good hotel.
Excellent location, not far from the beach and a fab walk to Gibraltar Point.
Our room was quite small but clean and comfortable and for what we paid for this two night stay it was excellent value.
