“Fantastic service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 22, 2012

Visited Birmingham on business, stayed at this hotel for a week could not fault it. The staff and managers are very well trained.
the room was just right, i was also offered upgrades on a daily basis,
The location is very close to motorways and the city. 2 very good restaurants on the door step too. the toby carvery and Suriya Indian both were both delightful to dine in.
We will not hesitate to stay at this hotel in future.

I read all reviews on this hotel and was panicking as I have 3 days here. What's with all the negative reviews because I see no mould and the rooms are modern and comfortable although a little small but after all im not booking a Hilton. Receptionist Sarah was very helpful also. Don't read the hype this hotel is clean and comfortable and peaceful.

We stayed here overnight on Saturday Sept 29th the nearest place to the venue for a family party, we took 3 rooms- 218, 219 and 119.Sheets and towels were clean but I never slept a wink, the bed was VERY uncomfortable and CREEKY, I have never had such a bad night in a hotel....ever!!! I know we are not paying much but the rooms certainly leave a lot to be desired. The 3 rooms we had were all very poorly decorated, not very clean and with the curtain hanging off the rails. In room 119, the room and bedding all smelt of stale smoke....not very pleasant! We have stayed here in the past, 2 or 3 times and it was never like this! We will be finding alternative accommodation on our next trip to the Midlands.

Was in Birmingham for a wedding and chose this lodge as it was closest to the venue. The room and bed were clean but the general standard of the room was poor. The paintwork was yellow and chipped and the room needed a total refurb. Storage was almost non existent but sufficient for a 1 or 2 night stay. I have never slept in such a creaky bed, every slight movement made a noise! I expect travel lodges to be basic but this was below an acceptable level. It's on the same site as a Toby hotel where we enjoyed a good breakfast both mornings. I gave this an average on the basis that the housekeepers did a good job of the cleaning, but no amount of cleaning could disguise the obvious lack of investment. It was cheap to stay though so I suppose you get what you pay for !

We stayed here for one night for £32.50, not a bad price. Room was very basic with a lack of inventive decoration but was clean at least. However, it could really do with some updating, especially the bathroom which has grout missing from between tiles and generally just needed modernising.

We stayed in room 118 which was right next to the Reception...not great. I was woken up at 6.30am by the Staff/Receptionists talking next door. Not very loudly but the walls are so thin that I could hear every word which was not what I wanted at that time of the morning on a Sunday especially after a late night before, so avoid this room if you can. The mattress also could have done with being chucked out as it dipped in the middle.

However, on a plus side....the breakfast buffet at Toby Carvery just over the car park was brilliant and the service great too. For £5.79 you can have an all you can eat buffet and hot drinks. Food was lovely, hot and a good choice. Can't complain at all for that price!!

Room Tip: Don't have room 118 if you can help it....too close to Reception and too noisy.

On arrival towels on the bed not put in bathroom. No toilet roll.
Got toilet roll from reception, could not get another pillow, but was given another
quilt to fold up and use as a pillow. Bathroom had mildew around the bath, and the soap dish and steel fittings were not clean. Shower mixer did not work properly, so I didnt use it after husband reported that problem. Uncomfortable night for my husband.
I have complained to customer services, who say you cant guarantee an extra pillow, only if they
are available. And you get mildew owing to the airflow in the bathroom ??? Really?
The Manager at this Lodge told us he has complained about the conditions there, but nothing gets done. This was not a cheap night, it was £72.60. I could have gone to Premier Inn but thought we would try Travelodge. Never again. Ii have not replied to their email yet but I will and I have a photo of the grime in the bathroom. They should be offering some refund for this bad experience.
