“Good stop off”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 1, 2013 via mobile

We were on our way to Cornwall and wanted to break the journey. We booked a £29 deal got a lovely large room we didn't eat at the restaurant attached as many others had said it wasn't good but took a walk down the road to the local pub which served an excellent meal. We took the park and ride bus which is directly opposite into Taunton which only cost us £1.50 return for two as it was off peak. Will be staying again

I've never used this site before, but after my experience at your hotel I thought this to be necessary. On arrival I was greeted by your lovely young receptionist Zoe, she explained all we'd need to know and directed us to our spotless, clean room. We were informed that the restaurant was serving carvery only, but alternatively we could take a short walk to the village situated 5 minutes away. Due to my wife being partially disabled we decided on the cavery, this was a bad experience for us. The only meat available was gammon, all the vegtables were dried up and the food itself was only just warm. Its a big shame for your hotel. We hope to visit again on our journey to Cornwall, but will just eat elsewhere. Many thanks.

Our room in the annex building was surprisingly quiet considering the proximity to the motorway and the fact that we had our window open.
The bed was huge and extremely comfortable.
Staff were pleasant and helpful.
The hotel was easy to find.

Stayed there before and immediately told secretary not to book it again. Hotel is OK though an odd layout and the staff are good but the restaurant is naff, naff, naff!

Shabby, gloomy except for bits under a arched glass canopy but you wouldn't want to eat there because a glance up reveals cobwebs and dust just waiting to fall.

Worse of all they STILL don't turn the expresso machine on in the morning so you stuck with the muck from the jug or juice. Choose the juice!

Evening meals not good either so eat at the pub up the road which is not great but a whole lot better.

For somewhere clean and convenient to sleep no problem. Just seen Linda H's review, why so much for so little, succinctly put.

We stayed at the hotel as a stopover on a long journey, and we often use Premier Inn, mainly because the standard is pretty good and you know what to expect, and it was for just one night. The hotel was spotlessly clean, the rooms comfortable, warm and quiet. The TV could do with updating but aside from that it was good value for money and we were perfectly happy with it. The staff are friendly and helpful. However, the attached restaurant - Blackbrook Tavern really let it down. The breakfast was diabolical, dried up food, curdled milk and stale bread was just the start of this terrible experience. The restaurant was filthy, with almost every table left uncleaned after use with only one member of staff frantically trying to cope alone. My recommendation is to book the hotel, but find somewhere else to eat.

Room Tip: We had room 3 which faced the rear car park and main road but we couldn't hear the traffic. It...

Within very easy access of the M5 Junction 25, literally a few minutes. Having said that the windows are well insulated and you don't hear the motorway. The usual fitments in the room but on this occasion quite an old CRT TV.The room was clean and tidy however in my room a few of the fitments were loose. comfy bed and curtains that keep out the light.
There is a Eating Inn next door which is also a pub or they serve food at the hotel which are both handy.

By being a large organisation you would think that prices would or should be good value for money given that Premier Inn are really not any different to a Travel Lodge..a bit more glam looking but nothing more. My husband had tried to book me in and got the wrong date so by this time I was tired and having driven from Scotland to this point I couldnt go on any further in a vain hope of getting to where I was to be in Penzance that night. I was charged...wait for...given the adverts on telly ...£87 ! for one night! Sorry but that is a RIP OFF! Utter complete rip off. I will add the girl on reception was very helpful and friendly so thank you to her.
There is no reason whatever you say about late arrival/booking/location/business etc...this is a rip off.
