“The perfect country escape”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2013 for a stay in September 2013

We visited The Byre for a 4 night mid--week break. The cottage is furnished to an incredible standard and is very cozy. The hot tub is exactly what is needed with fantastic views over the countryside.
We was made to feel very welcome and enjoyed the bottles of local cider that was waiting for us.

I highly recommend visiting the Prince of Wales pub in Holcombe, is about 20 min walk and food is incredible and staff very welcoming.

We will hopefully be booking a return visit.

“Congenial host, all creature comforts and superb location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 24, 2013 for a stay in August 2013

Highly recommend this home from home with a lovely view. We had decent weather so made the most of the outdoor eating area. Being mid way between Sidmouth and Minehead both coasts were thoroughly explored as was the tow path at the bottom of the lane. Thank heavens for the hot tub to soak away the aches and pains. The dog was also suitably happy if exhausted. Special thanks to the thoughtful host.

“A lovely getaway!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2013 for a stay in April 2013

We (2 couples) stayed at the Byre back in April this year for 2 nights. The cottage is beautifully furnished and has a real home from home feel to it. Everything you could need is provided for you, even a Wii console in the smaller bedroom!

There is a lovely walk just down the lane to the canal path which is nice and relaxed.

On arrival we were greeted by a welcome bottle of cider each and a cake, which we all thought was a special touch.

A big thank you to Tim the owner who was extremely helpful and was quick to respond to any questions we had.

The views are stunning & you are not at all overlooked. The hot tub is fantastic and we spent a lot of time taking in the views from it!

We absolutely loved it here, so much so that we are making a return visit in October for my sister's and I 30th birthday and we cannot wait!

Definitely recommend The Byre to anyone looking for a break away with beautiful views, amazing hot tub and peace and quiet! :)

“Perfect!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2013 for a stay in June 2013

We stayed at The Byre this weekend (7th-10th June) and me and my partner loved everything about it. The cottage itself its very well furnished with good taste very homely. The area around The Byre is unspoilt and the views are stunning. Wellington town is only 10 minuet drive with shops and few local pubs. Also just down the drive from The Brye is a gorgeous walk along the canel, If you want a quiet easy weekend/week away this is 100% the place.
Will defiantly be coming back.

“Stylish holiday home in lovely surroundings”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2012 for a stay in July 2012

'The Byre' is situated at the top of a winding country lane, just a short walk from an idyllic, unspoilt stretch of canal. It has a wonderful view over fields, all the more enjoyable when seen from the superb hot tub, which is maintained for you on a daily basis.

The house provides hotel-style accommodation, stylishly planned and very clean. The floors are slate, bedding good quality, beds excellent, kitchen well equipped and the living area comfortable. Both bedrooms have flat screen TVs and ensuite bathrooms, with excellent showers and fairly thick towels.

The caretaker is helpful, and you'll find apple juice, cider and chocolates in the fridge! The area is pretty and unspoilt, yet very close to the M5. It's a dog friendly place, and our labrador loved the canalside walks. We would have no hesitation in returning.

“Amazing views, amazing house, didnt want to leave.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2012 for a stay in March 2012

My partner and I stayed at The Byre for 5 nights from the 13th March. We contacted the owner Tim, who couldnt have been more helpful. We have never holidayed within the UK before and just wanted something to get away for a few days.

This place is amazing. It is set within its own grounds, not overlooked by anyone. The views which you can see on the photos are stunning and can not be done justice by the photos. The house is 5*. It is a barn conversion which is immaculate inside and we really can not fault anything. It has more than you would expect to be in a self-catering holiday cottage.
On arrival we had been left eggs, (from the hens just down from the house) wine and locally produced apple juice. This was a great touch and much appreciated. We took our dog too, there is no evidence that any pets had previously ever been in the house, or in fact any human! They must have a very good cleaning lady!

An added bonus to what is a fantastic cottage was the hot tub looking out over the views. Unfortunately my other half was pregnant so not able to go in but I enjoyed it. We invited two of our friends to come to the house for two of the nights which Tim was fine with. Overall he is very relaxed and responded immediately to any queries we had whilst staying there.

It is not a very balanced review because between us we can not think of anything bad to say!

If you want a quiet holiday cottage,at a good price, with amazing views, private, with an outdoor hot tub book this place, you will not be dissapointed. Although we would appreciate it if not too many people booked because we want to go a few times next year! The worst part of our time at The Byre was having to come home, honestly!

“Beautiful Cottage In An Excellent Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2011 for a stay in July 2011

We booked the holiday cottage for ourselves, our 2 sons aged 15 and 13 and our dog.

When we arrived at the holiday cottage we were very pleased. The cottage was immaculate and the decor and furnishings were of excellent quality. The property stands in its own grounds and there is ample car parking. Both bedrooms are ensuite, the master bedroom has patio doors into the rear garden.

The cottage is fully equipped with everything you could possibly need, even down to DVDs, console and games, a large selection of books, gas barbecue, sun loungers, washer, dryer, wifi etc. The owners had even left some bottles of cider, apple juice, eggs and a home made cake for our arrival.

There is a large rear enclosed garden which overlooks fields. The hot tub is also in the rear garden and it was lovely to spend time in the tub overlooking the beautiful scenery.

Nearby is the Grand Western Canal and the town of Wellington. We went a bit further afield and spent time in Torquay, Cheddar and Minehead, all of which were reasonable travelling distance.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this property. Fantastic location with beautiful scenery.
