“Sunday Lunch”

We picked this pub on the off chance and very pleased we were too.
The food was superb and considering how busy this village pub was, we were served relatively quickly.
Will definitely be using this pub again.
Do try it!

Stayed over night on our way to Newquay, on Sunday evening. Family of four, great accommodation, simple but clean and cosy. Kids loved the bowling! Had drink on our arrival, customers and staff all friendly and welcoming. Evening meal was delicious, followed by pub quiz and couple of pints. All in all great place to stay, feels local but not at all 'clicky'. Beds very cosy, great nights sleep. Breakfast was excellent, staff friendly.

Definitely would stay again or/and recommend.

Room Tip: Think we were in room 3, light and airy room, coffee/tea in room. Authentic looking with fire and b...

Lovely traditional pub, nice decked beer garden and shady, grassy seating areas within earshot of a babbling stream, we wanted a light Sunday lunch so opted for the roast meat ciabatta. The bread is served fresh, warm and "open" - topped generously with pork, lamb or beef, homemade sauces (horseradish/ mint etc), a few trimmings (Yorkshire pud or stuffing depending on your meat choice) and lashings of gravy! Good selection of ales and ciders, good service, all pretty good stuff for a lazy Sunday in the sun :-)

The Winchester is located in a quiet country lane, easily accessible, with secure parking onsite. A very pleasant atmosphere inside with excellent food, the Staff were most hospitable. Well sutuated for walks along leafy country lanes to relieve the stress of work yet just 10 minutes away from the Taunton CBD, which made it ideal for my visit. Representing excellent value for money, I highly recommend The Winchester !

Room Tip: Just explain to the Staff your requirements and they will test and adjust according to availability...

So many pibs seem to think they can offer mediocre and bland food for lunchtime trade. Not this one. We stopped off en route to North Devon as I hate motorway service stations and this is about 15 mins from the M5 junction. What a great lunch - the menu is varied and contains lots of fresh fish dishes along with the staples of lasagne, jacket potatoes, and so on. But the meals are fresh, hot and tasty. Service is excellent and both of our mains came with a large and crisp side salad on the plate rather than the all too often seen excuses for limp lettuce and some soggy cucumber. This was a really great lunchtime find. It was busy too which is always a good sign. The pub has a little garden at the back which is by a stream or the inside is traditional and welcoming. Very much recommended for a stop off - don't suffer the ignomy of service station food!

Revisited this lovely quaint Hotel/Pub restaurant and as before were delighted with our stay.
This time we were on the ground floor which was a lovely large room, light airy and tastefully decorated.
Breakfast outstanding as always and the staff are warm and friendly even on an early Sunday an early Sunday morning lol!
The village of Trull is stunning, beautiful houses, winding lanes, stunning church and the friendliest of locals, Taunton is only 1.5miles so ease of access in to the city is great.

Room Tip: I think this was room 6 on the ground floor, access was via side door to pub. It had a double and si...
