“fantastic value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 26, 2014

cant go wrong for the price. the meat is always cooked to perfection, veg and potatoes not the best but what do you expect when its being kept warm under the hot lights! will definitely return when we cant be bothered to cook, the value for money on food and drinks fantastic. would not go if wanting a really nice meal out though.

“Disapointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 27, 2014

We called in on a Sunday for a meal, the pub was remarkably empty and its easy to see why if i am honest.

The price on a Sunday was near enough double the Monday to Saturday price and from what i could see you didn't get anything else for the extra money. As we approached the carvery i took one look at the meats on offer and opted for the sausages, the joints looked incredibly fatty, undercooked visually very unappealing. You got 1 small mass manufactured Yorkshire pudding and a selection of overcooked bland vegetables so i ended up with a plate of bangers and mash which to be fair was ok but not what you would expect at a carvery if i am honest. Looking around my families and other diners plates you could see most of them were not empty and covered in lots of fat etc.

Although this isn't necessarily the restaurants fault i didn't appreciate the language coming from the 3 lads on the table behind us. I swear like a trooper but there is a time and a place and a family restaurant isn't it. The lads were pretty loud and could be heard from some distance given the turning heads so it would not have hurt for a member of staff to say something to them.

Unfortunately i will not be visiting the Cock & Crown again anytime soon.

“Nice Carvery”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2014

Called in on a wet Saturday for dinner. The place was very clean and tidy and was quite busy. We found a table and looked at the menu. We decided on a sharing platter to start and it was delicious tasty and hot. I then had a small Carvery and my husband a standard one and we finished with a nice cream. With a britvic orange and a becks blue with blackcurrant the bill was just over £18.00 which we thought was good value for money. Will definitely go back again when in the area.
