“Astonishing to find ancient history so accessible”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 6, 2012

Walked to this ancient monument whilst walking around Pugney's one day. Incredible to see how a 13th century castle was. Well worth the detour

A little dull think we expected a little more. Good for the children to have a run. Nice picnic area.

“Great view lots of steps to climb but WOW worth a visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

The remains of a tower on the hill is a must see, there are woodern steps for safe entry and the view is amazing. There is alsi a castle wall at the bottom, with a small visitors centre showing how castle looked through ages, a real historic gem for Wakefield with history.

“Great for kids, good view, interesting ruin and free!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2012

This is very much a ruin of the former castle, but it is intersting to have a walk around and there are some great views and walks across the fields. Plenty of car parking. Free entry. Great for kids to have a run around and let off steam on a nice day. If only looking at and walking around the castle ruins then 30-40 mins is all it will take. Kids will likely be happy to run around for much longer!
