“A lovely place for a stroll”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2013

We have seen this place develop over many years now and it is very well used by the locals. It's always pleasant to walk round the lake and most dog owners act in a responsible manner. The water sports attract plenty of people and it is well used as a venue for charitable events. I think in this instance the council spends its limited budget wisely and it has got the balance right...not something I say too often! They have developed what was a derelict industrial site and made it an attractive amenity. It was lovely in the sunshine today.

“Great place to walk the dog”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2013

We found this place a few months ago it's a great walk for our puppy that we can't yet take hiking for miles. It's only about 1ish miles if you just walk the path but you can go up to the castle and make it further. It's great we can let him off the lead and he even has a dip in the water. It's also got a little cafe for a coffee and a toilet. Ohh and it's also got a little area were you can wash your dog with a hose and it's connected to warm water.

“Favorite place in Wakey (Only boring if you are ?)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 14, 2013

Me and my girlfriend walk round the Pugneys most nights and weekends (without a dog) and never find it boring. It changes every time you walk round it especially through the seasons. On my days off I go kayaking down there, you can also go windsurfing, sailing, go on a pedalo, learn how to drive a speed boat and learn loads of over water based sports. There is always loads of charity related events going on down there every week. I've done extreme outdoor sports in North, Central and South America, all across North Africa, most of Europe, India, Nepal and Tibet then someone told me people were saying the Pugneys is boring that's the reason I decided to leave a review. I am from Wakefield and I am very proud of the Pugneys and the people that say it is boring don't know a real thrill if it bit them on the backside. If you think the Pugneys is boring I say you are boring.

“Nice park, spoilt by dog dirt.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 11, 2013

Plenty of parking spaces and free for blue badge holders, part tarmac but mainly gravel paths around the lake, small cafe, Ice Cream vans and childrens play area,
But although signs requested dogs be kept on a lead most people ignored them, there were dog poo litter boxes on all the paths however few of them were used, and there were little piles all along the paths. Of course there was no sign of any dog warden, but the parking wardens were in full view.
