“A thai to remember”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2012

Thai food to some people is a taste bud extravaganza too far, if you associate with that comment then please do read on.

If you already adore Thai food then there is no question, you absolutely MUST read on!

Amala has, without question, the most remarkable customer care philosophy. You are guaranteed to receive a phenomenally warm welcome as you enter the restaurant, this is immediately followed by a marvellously attentive drinks and ordering service from the knowledgeable staff and superb complementary dish recommendations from your server. If the restaurateurs are around and you are in the mood for conversation, then convivial and engaging repartee ensues.

All that said, the dishes are fantastic – everything is delightfully presented, delicious and comparatively speaking the prices are in line with other local eateries of comparable quality.

This place receives a big thumbs up from us all round – we’ve been five times now and it’s not been open that long either. You are strongly urged to try Amala, it may be a new arrival on the Wakefield scene but it certainly deserves to stay. So go on, give it a try – you will not be disappointed!

“Best Thai food in Wakefield! You must visit!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 17, 2012

Returned about an hour ago. What a fantastic restaurant. Went mid week to try for the first time. We had the mid week early bird menu- 3 courses with wine or beer or £15.00. Real freshly prepared Thai fusion food. Wakefield has been crying out for a restaurant like this that actually caters for people who appreciate fantastic asian food with a modern twist. The owner comes and talks to you straight away and spends time getting to know you. He really has thought every little detail through, from the ambient music and decor to the excellent fusion food. Wonderful. The food is superb! Every part of the menu has been thought out carefully and compares with the best Thai restaurants we've eaten in around the country. Wakefield has needed something like Amala to bring a bit of an authentic Thai experience to what is in many ways a bland unimaginitive beer drinking town where some restaurants simply want to get people in and back out again without a hint of personality! Amala is well worth seaking out just off Wood St. It's only been open 4 months. Can't wait to go back and explore the rest of the menu. Lets hope it stays! Nothing in Wakefield to compare to it.

“Excellent food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 16, 2012 via mobile

We visited this restuarant on a Tuesday evening, we where the only people but got a very earm welcome. The menu is is short but Thers is more than enough to choose from. The owner came across to introduce himself and explain the menu. He told us we could have any starter or main as a starter or vice versa. He was friendly and told us about all tbe ingredient Been fresh and he's passion for cooking . Needless to say the food was great.we had the thai fishcakes which where really good followed by a red king prawn curry which oozed lots of different flavours. But tbe very best bit was the chocolate chilli brownie with coconut ice cream fantastic !!! They really are very nice people, and all though the restuarant is still very new they are already getting there regular customs each weekend. It's worth a visit you won't be disappointed .
