“Good Choice”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2012

This restaurant was very good however we went at a quiet time and i can imagine it would be chaos at busy times. The food was hot and there was a good range of both starters, mains and desserts. Under 3s are free. Staff were friendly and helpful. Also good with children. Oh and the view of the people working out in the gym is highly amusing!!

“The novelty has worn off”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2012

After our 4th visit to this restaurant we decided that it would be our last. When we visited earlier this year at lunchtime we had to wait for a table. When we left at 8.30pm this evening the place was near empty, save a party booking. Staff were stood around, nothing much to do.

Yes, the food was varied - but starters and mains were all lukewarm and overcooked. Main courses were predominantly chicken based which pleased our preferences but not everyone likes chicken. Staff are always courteous but they obviously have a problem finding sufficient Chinese staff.

Considering the restaurant has only been open a couple of years the fixtures and fittings are already wearing: table tops becoming scuffed, some spotlight bulbs not working, that kind of thing.

One point was made by a previous reviewer is that prices are not displayed. Indeed they are, PROMINENTLY at the entrance as you go in! Drinks prices (beer, softs, etc) are on the wine list on each table. One gripe however is that your bill is kept by the reception staff - you don't get a copy to keep so check it's OK.

We both felt that perhaps for other people too, the novelty of Chinese buffet meals in Wakefield is maybe beginning to wear off.

Incidentally the restaurant has a marvellous view over a gym opposite. One group of people eating watching another group working off what they'd eaten!!

“Pretty good”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 22, 2012

Chinese buffets these days can be much of a muchness with them all over the place. This is a larger place and is on a par with the better of these establishments.

On our visit the plates themselves were generally cold. Starters good selection but could have been hotter. Decent selection of soups, won-tons, spring rolls, chicken toast, duck etc etc. Main courses also a good selection of dishes including a teppanyaki hot plate thing where you can get certain raw items cooked up for you. Plentiful selection of desserts some a bit bland, not bad, and included jam tarts!?

Drinks are a tad pricey but you come to expect that in a place like this.

Service was acceptable enough.

Overall not bad and worth a visit as you can certainly go to far inferior places in the locality.
