“Small Rooms But Great Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2012

Stayed here with my two kids, and with the beds for them in situ there is not much floor space at all. Their two beds were next to the wall and next to each other which didn't impress my teenage son! There was only about six inches to spare between the main bed and the kids bed.
The room was usual high Premier Inn standards, clean and well equipped, just too small (in my opinion) for two kids beds.
Bathroom was clean, but there was no bath, good shower though.
The hotel was full and therefore busy, but the woman on reception couldn't have been more helpful when we encounter a problem with our room. She couldn't do enough for us.
Very easy to find from the M1, and a big Asda closeby. Got stuck in Wakefield rush hour returning the hotel from the Asda, but it is possible to get to the hotel through Calder Park industrial estate from Pugneys Country Park roundabout, though the signs did say it was a dead
end!

A well run, efficient and friendly hotel. Very good value for money. Clean and tidy with good facilities. The room was a little noisy but only from the M1 which is just down the road, and it would be hard going without a car if sight seeing was your aim.

Room Tip: as far as I am aware all the rooms are the same.

Another good stay at a Premier Inn for a family meeting at a local restaurant. A good half-way point between Northumberland, Derbyshire and Hertfordshire with the hotel being about 5 minutes from J39 of the M1. Reception unfailingly helpful despite more people turning up than they expected. Scrupulously clean room and bathroom. Quiet room. Breakfast: my continental had more choice than last time but partner's full English was slow in coming.

Room Tip: Facing the car park is quieter.

I was to travel from the south east of England to Whitby with a friend, calling at Chesterfield to visit the friend's sister-in-law in hospital. We needed to find somewhere to stay the night and travel on the following day. Having checked some other locations I came across the Premier Inn at Wakefield which offered much better terms so I booked. The reception was most friendly and helpful, and car parking was easy and monitored by cameras. The room itself was excellent - being bright, clean, smart, quiet with a pleasant view - the only thing missing was Ainsley himself!
There was an excellent pub with restaurant on site where dinner was very good. To be recommended

Nice friendly clean hotel in a handy location for Yorkshire Sculpture Park. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful . Room felt very fresh, modern and clean. Only downside, the room was slightly small for a family of four. However it was absolutely fine for a night or two. Lots of country parks nearby. We'll be back sometime if the price is right :-)

Stayed here on way to Newcastle. Was expecting bare basic hotel but surpassed by its comfort. Clean, tidy, modern and ad everything you needed. Makes me rethink why I squally pay double the price. The location was minutes off the M1 but quiet. My only niggle was wifi was only free for 30 minutes then you had to pay. But overall very happy and would stay again

We stayed for 3 night for YSP. The only reason I am giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that the beds were too hard for us, so we slept poorly the first 2 nights. Asked for a couple of spare duvets before the last night, put them on the beds to make softer (should have asked earlier!) Pillows good though and plenty of them. Staff are very helpful, breakfasts good (all you can eat buffet and hot meals cooked to order), the room was clean and spacious. Also proper digi tv with all channels and ceefax, not just a handful of channels (unlike some other hotels). Very quiet too, considering the proximity to the M1.
