“Very good hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2012

This hotel was lovely. The staff were friendly, the room was clean and modern, although a little warm, however the overall stay was very good. The reception staff and restaurant staff were very helpful, courteous and friendly and the location was ideal for the Teesdide University. The only issue was that the Spa was seperate to the hotel, so it was too inconvienient for me to use it in the evening.
Very close to the train station too!!

Room Tip: The rooms at thr front were a little bit nosy from the traffic as we had to have the window open as...

The first time we stayed at this hotel we enjoyed our stay and enjoyed the room and surroundings.
We decided to stay here again some months later and was disappointed.
Our room was a 'suite' so we expected (and payed) more than last time.
Firstly the decor looked a bit tired and from maybe the 90's and the wallpaper had started coming off the wall in some places. Secondly the dressing gowns provided are too small for men (my husband insists I put this in). Thirdly, the hot water wasn't very hot, and after a cold day in Darlington I needed a hot bath.
As before, the staff were helpful and friendly and the manager who was not available at the time we complained, phoned my husband to apologise. She explained the room had a leaking roof some time previous which had caused the wallpaper to come away.
This aside, for the price we paid we expected a better standard and if the room wasn't up to scratch they should have sold it.

Dear RuthandCraig

Thank you for taking the time to post your feedback regarding your recent stay with us and I am sorry that the suite did not meet your expectations.
As I explained during our telephone call, the recent heavy rain had caused slight cosmetic damage to an area of wallpaper and whilst the repairs were being progressed, I am sorry that this was not completed in time for your stay.
We hold various sizes of bath robe and are able to substitute sizes if requested. I do not recall the water temperature being raised initially but I will investigate your feedback further.

I am pleased that you found the staff to be helpful and friendly and that you have enjoyed your previous visits to the Hotel.
We do hope that you will visit us again and we look forward to welcoming you back.
Kind regards

We recently had our wedding reception here and I can only describe everything as excellent. From our first meeting with Jade the wedding co-ordinator to checking out & collecting our wedding gifts, nothing was ever a problem! The staff on the day were superb, organisation & the rooms were perfect and the food was brilliant. All of our friends & family enjoyed our day and Bannatynes Hotel played a huge part in making this a special day for us.

We have recently stayed there (Oct 12) for a wedding and had a marvellous time. We have stayed at this hotel a couple of times now and all of the staff and indeed the hotel in general, is excellent. Very helpful, friendly staff, spotless hotel, lovely rooms and the food is great too. We would certainly recommend this venue, either for a stop over and lovely meal, or for a function such as a wedding.

Only stayed one night on business but the staff were superb. Very attentive, nothing was too much trouble.

Well appointed room with all the facilities you would expect and very tastefully decorated. Power shower, fluffy towels and a range of quality toiletries available. A huge bed with crisp clean sheets - extremely comfortable stay.

Too tired to go to downstairs to eat, I ordered room service which arrived quickly and the food was excellent (club sandwich and chunky chips)

Breakfast in the morning was delicious , in lovely surroundings.

I thoroughly enjoyed my very short stay and I will definitely be back.

High quality bedroom - good standard of furniture, large bed, powerful shower and all very clean Only had breakfast there but that was fine. Easy access to town within a few minutes walk and very reasonable price. Seemed to be a large wedding party but that didn't diminish the service to standard guests. Ideal spot for visitors to Darlington town centre

Room Tip: I had Rooom 16 which faced the room which was fine and quiet - might have been slightly better to fa...
