“Hot Hot Hot ... but not in a good way!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 5, 2011

Good points first ....
1) Ignore other reviews which complain of exessive road noise, it really is not a problem at all. I stayed in a room at the back of the hotel ie, closest to the busy road, and you could hardly hear it during our mid week 2 night stay.
2) The hotel is very convenienty located for Poole, Sandbanks and Bournemouth. The latter two have fantastic blue flag beaches which really took me by suprise.
3) Staff were helpful and friendly.
Not so good points ....
1) This hotel must be built on top of an underground volcano! I stayed in a room on the first floor and the minute you entered the corridor you could feel the heat. This seemed to intensify as you passed through each fire door. The hotel must know about this problem as they've left fans in the bedrooms which are NOT airconditioned. I must stress that the outside temperature during our stay was 17-18 degress C max so I dread to think what it's like during warm weather. You can only open the bedroom windows to about a 2cm gap in an attempt to ventilate as they are fixed with security locks.
2) The self serve area for food is very small. I guess it's OK if the hotel is not busy but if you're there when it is then this is a problem. The staff seemed to be overun by the number of guests and several of the breakfast items quickly ran out and took too long to replace or were not replaced at all. The food area along with the seating area became very untidy and the staff couldn't keep on top of it. There were no sausages served at all during out 30-40 mins at breakfast and it seemed like an 'everyman for themselves' mentality had set in with guests in an attempt to get a table and food. Not a pleasant experience to have at the start of the day.
You know what you get with Premier Inn which is why Whitbread have made them such a success. I have used them in the past and will use them again in the future. However, they do need to do something about the temperature in this hotel or fit aircon in the bedrooms. May be the hotel was just very busy at breakfast during my stay so this may just have been the luck of the draw. The staff certainly try to do their best even under difficult circumstances.

Stayed here for one night arrving late (after midnight) from the ferry terminal. The hotel was easy to find and welcoming even at that time of night and the big advantage of staying in this chain of hotels is there is someone there 24 hours a day to let you in and the childrens beds are already made up for you.

As is usual for a PI the hotel corridors were a little too warm for my likeing and you cant open the room windows more than a few inches because of the restrictors, and it didnt have air conditioning, but unlike my previous stay at another PI, It did have a fan in the room which was quite powerful and helped a lot and on arrival the window was open to let in some welcome fresh air.

The room had the usual high quality comfortable beds and linen and the room was very clean. The shower is powerful and even though the shower is above the bath and has a shower curtain, the rail is curved away from the bath giving you more room to manouver without the shower curtain clinging to you whilst washing.

Breakfast was a little crowded and there was a short wait for a table but the food plentiful and well cooked.

Recommended for an overnight / short stay.

Average hotel - no air con - it wasnt that hot outside but the room was unbearably hot - they did provide fans in every room which makes me think that they have received complaints in the past! We hardly got any sleep. This one is not a patch on the Christchurch/Highcliffe Premier Inn!

We really enjoyed our stay here the room was clean, spacious and there was plenty of hot water for showers. The staff are so friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Food for breakfast was tasty with plenty to choose from and order if you wanted something in particular. Would definitately stay here again.

i have stayed in many 5 star hotels overseas in various continents and i never thought that i would ever get good service in a uk hotel, especially in a brand so-called budget hotel.
Premierinn poole north has got an excellent set of staff who unprompted will help and look after you. I was genuinely impressed. Ive had what you might call "traditional service" but at the poole north premier inn in they actually seem to care about what they are saying and its not service by rote..well done guys. I felt relaxed and at home not intimidated by frosty receptionist waiters and managers being snobbishly busy doing something other than making me the customer feel comfortable...Faith that service in the uk is not dead restored! Good work.
