“Excellent evening from start to finish”

We had decided to give this a try for evening meal following a successful lunch the day before. From the welcome we had and the service in the lounge for our drinks we were in for a great evening.Whatever comments have gone before Jo has obviously got a good team and the teething issues have gone. The menu is small but we prefer that as long as everything is well served and it was, starters and sharing plates were lovely and our mains were good too.We did find room for desserts! Portions were fine for us but might need side dishes for some people This was a busy night just before Xmas and I can't fault it.Antonio and the rest of the team, well done and we will be back. Also discused our experience with Jo and felt her efforts to make sure everyone was having a good time was great.Keep up the good work

We went for a drink with friends one evening and as it was Christmas week we thought it would be busy. However, it was quite empty so there was little atmosphere; they have not been open long maybe people don't know about it yet. They have done a nice job of the refurb and the decor is attractive, although I found the very large polo player on his horse on the back of the ladies' loo door rather off-putting!

The menu looked fine for a snack lunch but not so inviting for dinner, although other friends have been there and said their meal was very good but small.

The restaurant is newly refurbished and decor lovely, the food is good for the fee but don't expect big portions, the main course comes as the size of a starter.

That said the food was good. Unfortunately for us, it was so Sunday and children running around unsupervised spoilt the atmosphere.

Good beer though, mind you should be, owned by a brewery.

And finally, a common fault in the UK, waiting staff are not trained to a professional standard, although pleasant were less than elegant in the finer art.

We will return though.

You have a decision to make before going to eat there! Am I going out to admire tiny arrangements of Food Art on a large white background, or am I intending to eat a meal? We were a group of six who all ended up the former category whilst intending to be in the latter. One of our group ordered a venison pot and it was served in a small square pot about the size of a cup - about 4 mouthfuls of meat - with an artful arrangement of 4-5 slithers of mixed vegetables alongside. Most of the large plate was completely empty! An old saying comes to mind ..."You can fool some of the people some of the time, but not all of the people all of the time" Just my opinion ... (And my 4 mouthfuls were very tasty!) Was ravenous by the time I got home, having paid for a two course lunch.

Upham Brewery have taking over the previous New Beehive pub and done minor re-modelling.
For lunch I ordered the Venison and Penny Bun Pie. The pie was rather small, no discernable venison taste, no potato but a slice of cabbage. The chocolate Mousse was good if rather runny.
Good glass of Merlot.

Used to be called the Beehive. It has been refurbished. the bar is much the same with tweaked seating. The dining area has a nice decor (slightly bistro), with new tables and chairs, we visited on a cold Monday evening, but I am glad to say that they have solved the previous cold problem in the conservatory area. Though it was quiet on the night we visited there was a pleasant atmosphere which the staff complimented. Food portions were on the small side, but by the time we had eaten three courses we felt comfortable. Prices were slightly on the higher side but not too bad for the area. There were still a few teething problems to be ironed out, as they have only been open about a week we will give them another chance after the holiday.

First try at canford cliffs newest pub / restaurant. Can only speak on my experience and am somewhat surprised by other reviews but each to there own..

Lovely decor to befit a gastro pub and a nice sunday lunch menu that was I thought balanced and not over priced.
Food quality was very good. I had ox cheeks with creamy mash and an ample side portion of roast pots and root veg. Plenty on the plate and I can eat !!!!
Desserts were exceptional and obviously freshly made.
manager appeared knowledgeable and while some of the staff were young and nervous this did not detract from a lovely afternoon.

Will return soon.
