“Lovely Place to Visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 16, 2013

All too short but lovely trip from Poole Quay to the island. If you're not a National Trust member be prepared to pay a landing fee on arrival, but it's well worth it. It's a beautiful island with a surprising diversity of topography given its small size. Plenty of wild life to observe if you're sharp enough to spot it - take your binoculars we forgot ours! We had a lovely walk right round the outside of the island, there are some fantastic view points that will give you some cracking photos to remember the place with. We were there for about 3 1/2 hours on a lovely day and it wasn't a minute too long. Had the spiced bean stew in the restaurant - delicious. Trip back to Poole a much longer journey right round the island with an entertaining commentary on the fauna, flora and history of all the islands in the bay, Well worth a visit for NT and non NT members alike.

“Great tour to brownsea and islands”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 14, 2013

A hassle free boat ride to brownsea. All boat tickets appear to be interchangeable from Poole to islands with the 2 boat companies giving more freedom of timings.

“Glorious trip around Poole Bay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2013

If you are visiting Poole, make sure to take the ferry around the islands, stopping off at Brownsea Island which is now owned by the National Trust. This is where the Scout movement was founded in the early 1900s and it is now home to some of the most amazing bird-watching you will find in the UK. There are several walks you can take around the island, the longest of which takes about 2 hours but there are beaches too where you can picnic and swim, beautiful woodland, a bat dormitory (!), a picturesque church dating back to the times of Norman conquest; a farmyard replete with pedigree chickens and more peacocks than you can poke a stick at! The pheasant are so tame they will come up to your outstretched palm looking for food. Just a brilliant day out! En route back, the captain of the ferry gives an entertaining but also informative narrative about the various points of interest dotted along the bay.
