Mystified from all the 5 star reviews at Diva I thought it was high time to pay a visit one Wednesday evening while in Poole.
Did not book but managed to get a table as it was getting on for 8.30 in the evening. The restaurant was nearly full and got one of the last few tables but no one entered after us. It was staffed by only 2, but they managed everything really well.
Started with crayfish which was served on salad with some toasted bread which was fresh and flavorsome. The mussels were in a tomato based sauce rather than your usual white wine cream sauce but equally excellent. Mains a little less so, chicken with mushroom and onion was okay, the veal (again in tomato sauce) not too bad but lacking in anchovies as billed and the dried herbs seemed to overpower the sauce. The veggies were plated with your main and a little lacking in portion but tasty nonetheless.
Unfortunately, there was no room for pudding but they all looked very nice and most of the other diners who had desert seemed very pleased with theirs. The Greek ( I think) waiter was very good and he managed the tables very well and checked back on our meal, the other girl was good too and mostly managed the deserts and stuff. I was impressed with Diva but to me it was not 5 star as most people seem to mark it but a great choice of which there are many in Poole.
