“Chilled out stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2014

Needed a few days away for a relaxed break. This hotel met that brief. Great location for getting around. Had a side sea view room with a good view over to the spur out to Sandbanks. Lots of interesting activity in the harbour with the boats and kite surfers etc. The upstairs may show some signs of the age of the building but did nothing to detract from our enjoyment. The downstairs bar and restaurant are quite stylish and very comfortable for either drinks or dining. The terrace and lawns gave opportunities to sit out on a lovely evening and take the air. The overall position and views were just so attractive that if you like to be by the sea this is a great spot for you. The area around is quiet but everywhere you may wish to visit in the area is easily accessible. The food for both dinner and breakfast were excellent. Staff were all very pleasant and helpful and it wont be too long before we visit again and explore further afield along the coast.

We thoroughly enjoyed our overnight stay in this hotel. It is modern, clean, bright and we were delighted to be upgraded to a room with dual aspect views over the harbour. It is in a great location if you enjoy gazing at boats and people enjoying themselves on the water. Of greatest delight to us was the welcome our two small dogs received. They could join us in the bar for our evening meal and we sat outside for a beautiful breakfast the next morning, served by a very courteous, cheerful and friendly restaurant manager. If you did not realise this was a dog friendly hotel you might be a little disappointed with the carpet in the bedroom but when you have dogs with you it is a relief to find it is not brand new! Thank you for a very nice, if short, stay.

Room Tip: Request a harbour view on second or third floor if possible. If you are not a dog owner they have t...

After having a meal in the bistro at the week end I would not bother to return here. The view of the marina may be good ,but the food was of a pub standard but much more expensive. The staff were friendly but inexperienced ,having to check with the chef to answer simple questions about the menu . The chairs were so old and lumpy and cutlery old and very worn .The whole place is tired and in need of a complete up date especially the toilets .Being in a lovely area we were surprised to find a place that did not meet up to the quality you would expect .

I brought my friend here and we sat outside in the garden area, it was clearly busy however we did eventually find a table. The menu is extensive, and fine things seemed a little pricey. Once I ordered at the bar I was advised to pick up continents, a little disappointing that these are not brought to your table. The portions are of a good size. I had the beer burger with bacon and onion rings, this was clearly a home made burger, made with good quality meat, herbs and seasoning, it was cooked to perfection being a little pink inside, my friend had the chicken burger which was a fresh chicken breast. The chips are skinny fries, I would have preferred chunky chips or even sweet potato fries. We had wine spritzers, and the bill was around £28. Service was fine, would return again! Only slight issue is that parking can be awkward.

Arrived June 13 lovely hotel and very good food. No lift had to carry bags up three floors, no porter available. Room very warm no air conditioning.Staff ever so nice and helping. Nice locationclose to watersedge and boats and not far from Sandbanks and easy reach of Poole. Plenty of free parking.

Decided to treat husband to cooked breakfast at hotel for Father's Day . Hotel didn't seem to be busy but it took ages for our food to arrive , when it did arrive the order was wrong and items missing , ordered orange juice and this was poured from a open topped jug off the side and was carton juice - not fresh and not cold ! Meal was barely warm and beans were reheated with tinned mushrooms which were very oily . Children had waffles which looked like they'd been slung on a plate with 2 rashers of cold bacon and our other daughter had seasonal berries with hers which consisted of half a strawberry, two blueberries and a blackberry ! Hotel itself seems very dated throughout the main areas and in need of a good clean . My daughter dropped her beaker and I picked it up to find it covered in dog hair !! Never again and certainly won't be recommending to anyone !
