We hadn't been to the Custom House for a while so decided to go for Valentines Day. We booked a window table which has to be done with a lovely view over the water to the sunseeker yachts!
we had a 3 course meal from a set menu for £34.95 each which we feel to be very good value for the quality of the food.
I had the ham hock terrine with piccalili which was delicious and my husband had roasted cherry tomato soup with herb oil which was the best soup he's ever had, for mains i had chicken stuffed with duxelle mushroom which was superb the chicken just melted in the mouth and was a very decent portion with buttery fondant potato, cabbage & bacon and a thyme jus, hubby had fillet steak which was fantastic and full of flavour with wild mushroom jus and celeriac rosti. For dessert was a sharing plate consisting of chocolate tart, passionfruit parfait and strawberry mousse but the manager Mark by e-mail kindly pre-advised me that it included strawberries which i'm allergic too so he kindly substituted the mousse for an extra chocolate tart. The tart was heavenly smooth milky almost caramel tasting chocolate and the pastry was so soft it melted in our mouths topped with marbled shards and the passionfruit parfait was delicious like a creamy ice cream topped with passionfruit coulis my idea of bliss! we really could not fault a single element of the meal it was top notch and we will be back again very soon for another fabulous meal!
The waitress was very friendly and kept checking we were ok for bread, drinks etc and the manager Mark was fantastic sending me the menu a couple of weeks in advance and going through the different options which wouldn't affect my food allergies top customer service thank you!
