We had a mini break for a couple of nights in Ipswich and it was amazing.

We arrived at the Gatehouse hotel at 2pm on the Thursday and were greeted quickly and shown our room. The room itself was exceptionally clean, the bed was really comfy, with lovely pillows and a very warm duvet. The flat screen TV was positioned in a good place on the wall, so you could watch TV from the bed and the bathroom was a good size and immaculate. The *only* negative point I can think of, was the shower - it was quite weak so washing my hair took rather a long time. Still, I managed it and we would certainly go back there again in a heartbeat.

Breakfast was fantastic, we wandered down stairs and asked straight away what we would like - I have it on good authority that the full English breakfast was rather tasty and can speak for myself when I say the porridge was also very nice. There is a good variety of continental food and a choice of juices. The bloke serving us was really friendly and we certainly felt at home.

The bar was also rather homely and we had a few drinks down there on our first night.

Having a job which requires me to stay in hotels during the week, I can honestly say I would rate this hotel as a 4 star, not a 3 star. The staff were incredbiyl friendly, the room was perfect and we really enjoyed our time there :-)
