I was in Ipswich town centre and saw a blackboard outside the Town Hall with a simple invite to come in and have a great coffee in an individual (rather than chain) coffee shop.
Went in (up the main entrance steps and straight through, to the gallery room opposite) and asked for a Macchiato, and also noticed some lovely looking custard tarts (Portuguese style). I was asked whether I wanted a dash of milk or more, and responded just a dash. So I guess you can get a true Macchiato or ask for a sort of 1/2 way house between a Macchiato and Cappuccino.
The coffee was truly excellent - a good blend, aromatic and tasty and not too high/bitter roast, milk foam was good. The tart was also excellent.
Looking up their web site afterwards confirmed that these guys are true coffee enthusiasts. And they are also planning to provide sandwiches at some stage.
The room was open and informal, a large table, some comfy chairs etc. So overall a worthy, and different, addition to Ipswich coffee house options - and if you are a coffee enthusiast this is a must-try venue.
(Note they are open Tues - Sat : 10 - 4.45)
