“Huge portions”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 26, 2012

The waitress was very friendly and we didnt have to wait long to order drinks and then food. We ordered a flatbread each with jerk fries. Also had a side of garlic bread and some cajun crispy mushrooms. A huge bowl of mushrooms arrived - good value for money, but we couldnt manage half of them! The garlic bread was tasty, 4 slices for a side. The flatbreads were nice, we both had chicken (Cajun and Mexican) - I couldnt really taste the cajun on mine though. One portion of chips between us would have been loads, a side of chips is another huge bowl! They were nice and spicy though!

Average food, good service, huge portions.

“BIG portions but lack flavour”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2012

I'm afraid the restaurant is a summary of Ipswich in general... Quantity rather than Quality. ALL dishes lack any real "mexican" flavour. Decor is very good (apart from the very uncomfortable chairs) been couple times now and no improvement made from my first visit so i shall not be giving it another chance. Shame!!! Bring back Mexi-Mix.

“love it”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2012

Found this place by accident one day, best resturant in town, i had the CLUB HOGGIE which is bbq chicken breast, bacon, melted cheese with bbq sauce on a beautiful flat bread served with coleslaw, fries and a mixed salad, you don't have to have fries and salad you can have mexican rice and potatoe wedges instead, all the food is hot, some places iv'e been to by the time you get your food it's just warm, i like my food hot. all the meat is cooked on a BBQ and has that wonderful flavour, If you like desserts try the warm chocolate brownie with ice cream it's pure heaven, just make sure you starve yourself before going as the portions are huge, also the only place i know that refill your coffee and only charge once, staff are brilliant, i could go on but i won't, just go and enjoy the great food and atmosphere

“Absolutely awful!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2012 via mobile

We arrived & got greeted by some very rude waiters! We waited over an hour for our starter which we all were disappointed with not freshly cooked! We waited another hour for mains to arrive the steak wasn't cooked the way it was asked for we got cold food! We had extremely rude waiters when asking for a drink we got told " can't you see I'm busy" which is extremely rude, very bad customer service & continued to wait stupidly long for a drink! We asked for the dessert menu & waited to order & by this point we got so fed up of waiting we walked out! One of the waiters actualy argued with us in the restaurant which is extremely bad customer service! Overall very bad experience!

“Not worth it”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2012 via mobile

Went there for my partners birthday meal. We all arrived on time we were standing at the entertance for someone to show us to our table for about 15 minutes and they weren't even busy. Then we waited about half a hour for someone to take our orders. It took about a hour for just our appertizers to be served. Then another hour for our main meal. The food was okay the prawns were over cooked. Best if you go to chimmi changa if you want good Mexican food. And mambos is very over priced for what it is. One of the staff members were very rude and one even asked if she could tidy up while some of us were still eatting. Over all quite poor!!!
