“Great Carvery meal, well worth a visit.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2013 via mobile

We had a Sunday Carvery here and it was very good.
Food was hot, plentiful and well cooked, the choices of meat were good and not scrimped upon.
As this place is normally busy, it has to be good??

“Good Food and Good Value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 26, 2013

Used the restaurant for Breakfast whilst visiting the Crowfield Rally with family, the breakfast was plentiful and freshly cooked and with Toast and a large coffee was good value for money. This is no greasy spoon this is at the top end of truck stop facilities and hope that they get supported by the trucking community.

“Great place to eat as always.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2013 via mobile

Stopped off for Sunday lunch. Had the all you can eat carvery for £5.99. Kids had the macaroni cheese. All food hot. I then had the home made chocolate and orange cake and a coffee for £2.50. Staff were very polite and helpful.

“So much potenial not realised...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 2, 2013

We've been to the Orwell Crossing several times. To be honest, the food isn't at all bad but not quite as gourmet as the management's pictures on this Trip Advisor would suggest.

The reviewer who mentioned that there's no atmosphere is completely right. Saturday morning at 11am and the place should be buzzing. Instead, there are a couple of tables occupied in this cavernous dining room. It's all looking a bit tacky with run-down furniture, although the decor is nice.

The waiting staff are polite enough but, when not serving customers, hang around looking like they'd really rather be somewhere else.

Also, why not serve a brunch menu at weekends? I can't think of many people who want a carvery meal at 11am! It seems that Orwell Crossing can't decide whether it wants to be a family restaurant or a truck-stop. Other than some adverse publicity in the local rags a few years ago, the place isn't marketed at all, which is a real shame as it has potential to be a real money-spinner for someone.
