“Please someone save this pub!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2012

This pub has been on a rapid downward slide ever since the brewery edged out Nick and Dave, who were doing a superb job. The atmosphere is dreadful, the glasses are dirty and the beer is no longer well kept. There has been a change of landlord every couple of months since Nick and Dave left - on the most recent occasion, the new landlord apologised for the lack of bar snacks, but said the previous encumbent had left the stores empty! Not really a very good excuse when there is a Macro just down the road. A week later, we noticed that there are still no bar snacks. Although this is our local, we won't be bothering to go back and will walk the extra 5 minutes it takes to get to the Greyhound.

“Fifth set of Landlords in a year prices are a rip off”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed February 11, 2012

Hugely overpriced. Real ales selling at £3.30 - £3.70 can be bought at £2.10 in the Dove Street Inn or £2.15 at Ransomes.
Pub badly needs refurbishment.

“Had groupon Voucher”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2012

There was a week left to run on this particular voucher which I had pre-booked but the new landlady coolly informed me that they would not be honouring these vouchers. I will not be going here again for that reason alone.

“Bring back previous Landlord”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed December 17, 2011

We visited this pub in March 2010 and we were that impressed that we said we would return whenever in the area. Good God, what a change! Lazy staff, dirty plates and cutlery and not getting what we ordered! When I asked if I could speak to the Landlord (we now know its a new couple who have taken over) we were directed to a somewhat worse for wear woman who claimed to be the manageress! After voicing our concerns we were directed to leave the establishment and told in no uncertain terms by the slightly tipsy landlady that we were not welcome anymore!
A definite thumbs down on this place.

“Nice Pub But not a nice place to eat.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 22, 2011

This is a nice pub to go for a pint, But not that nice to go for a meal.
The sevice was very poor, The waitress did not come over to our table to see if we wanted any drinks, The food was not that good the starter was over cooked.
When the main meal came out it was not what we ordered. I would not eat here again.
