“Dinner and quiz night!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 24, 2015

We'd been away and were suffering with jet lag but had agreed to meet friends at The Greyhound for dinner and the quiz night.
We almost didn't go but decided that we really should.
Dinner was good, we all had food off the specials menu and were not disappointed at all. The Thai red curry was great a great flavour and just the right amount of heat, spice wise.
The quiz, as always, very good, made better by the fact that we came third!
Great night out and always a good pint, in fact the best pint of ghost ship I've had in Ipswich.
Lovely lovely lovely, can never recommend highly enough.

“Great food but the slow service did not detract overly from a good night.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2015 via mobile

A few minutes walk from the town centre is The Greyhound and it is well worth a visit. It's a traditional Suffolk style pub serving Adnams in very good nick and top notch gastro pub style food.
Sunday is quiz night and the place was packed; the service was lamentably slow but the young front of house team were very apologetic for the 40 minute delay between ordering and eating. All was forgiven when the food arrived. My grilled swordfish served with a veggie jambalaya was simply outstanding. My guest enjoyed a ham salad with some of the tastiest ham I have ever sampled.
One small criticism, apart from the tardy service was the pre assembled bottles of salad dressing left on the tables... Not pleasant at all. But hey... A small issue easily fixed.
Would I return? Yep, for sure but maybe not on a Sunday evening.

“Best roast ever!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 5, 2015

Superb pub! The Greyhound has a great reputation locally which it well deserves. This place has a lovely laid back atmosphere with attentive and knowledgable staff.
We had a wonderful meal - Sunday roast with all the trimmings and plenty of veg. Most importantly the roast beef was cooked to perfection, beautifully rare and melted in your mouth.
Puddings were equally good - with the option of cream, Ice cream or custard with whatever you chose.
Real ales were well looked after and there was a good selection .
Would definitely recommend for a meal or a drink and will certainly be returning.

“Fabulous pub!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 17, 2015

From the outside this is a pub! You may not venture in unless you were a local or had been recommended- we were the latter!
There is a clear local customer base who are enjoying drinks and usual pub banter, inoffensive and adds to the hubbub and atmosphere.
As well as good beer and wine (Adnams), the menu is more than you would expect in a pub! The standard menu features a delicious burger and the specials are extensive with offerings that you wouldn't always expect- fish dishes, hearty stews and risotto.
The food is very good, the atmosphere lovely and it is very reasonably priced.
Highly recommend

“Top Grub and more than pub food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2015

We have eaten here a few times and NEVER been let down. Recently we arrived for the Sunday morning breakfast and that was super as well. I love this pub.You pay a little more but I really don't care, the food quality is as consistently high as the service.
