“Excellent pub grub”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2013

Adnams on tap, varied menu (both for what to eat as well as how much to pay), well-prepared food and quick service, outside tables for when the sun is shining, great place for pub lunch and an evening gathering of friends...

The only negative would be the parking which requires a sliderule and nerves of steel to negotiate...so plan to go by foot (you'll want to avoid drinking and driving anyway)

“How pubs should be”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 27, 2013

Have been going to the place for years from the days of Nigel and before...
The quality is better today than in years - nice team of people and the food is fab.
Lovely place to sit outside or on a cold night enjoy the real fire inside....

Award winning and clear to see why.... Go hungry and leave with a stuffed grin on your face.

“Good atmosphere, good food.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2013

Went with the family (inc dog) early evening after an afternoon spent in nearby Christchurch Park. The Greyhound is quite understated but shouldn't be overlooked. There is an outside seating area in the carpark at the back which is popular and gets the sun until 7. Have to be careful with kids though as it isn't a garden and cars do keep coming and going.
Food at The Greyhound is a mixture of pub classic on the menu (Burger, pies, salads etc..) but it gets much more interesting on the specials board, where fresh fish, currys, Thai and other options are available. Kids are welcome and well catered for with small version of adult dishes being served rather than the usual bland childrens menus offered at many other places. You need to ask for the kiddie portions though and they aren't available in everything (i.e burgers). The Greyhound has 2 highchairs so if you have kids you might want to take your own at busy times.
Food was tasty, portions a good size and Adnams ales on form as usual. Water bowls for dogs provided so everyone was happy :)
