“A great theatre space”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2013

We visited in June to see a concert by Suffolk Soul Singers, and were very impressed by the theatre. It's not huge, but holds enough people to create a great atmosphere, and the stage is visible to all. The sound is great too.
Lovely bars and refreshments upstairs and downstairs. My only slight grumble would be that the upstairs bar was very hot on the night we visited.

Thank you for your review. I hope you enjoyed the Suffolk Soul Singers who were making their New Wolsey debut in our Open Season.

I completely agree that the bar area gets very warm during the summer months, luckily there are some tasty Ice-Creams at one end of the bar to cool off!

“Little gem”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 16, 2013

The New Wolsey Theatre is a great venue offering a wide variety of productions each season. Even better, the auditorium is medium sized so that the audience is not remote from the action. Seat prices are good value and can be easily booked on-line. I saw the recent production of The Misanthrope which was highly amusing and will be returning to see some more productions in the autumn schedule. It's a little gem in Ipswich.

“Sondheim's Into the Woods”

A really energetic company with some really talented young people with excellent voices. If you are in the area then whyever would you want to drag all the way up to the West End?

Great service, friendly staff and a pleasant atmosphere. Upstairs bar has nice views. Drinks are reasonably priced, IPA was a very good pint.

“Fabulous”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2013

I saw the Importance of Being Earnest here quite a while back and it was exquisite. The food was a bit on the expensive side but it didn't take anything away from the experience as a whole. The chairs were very comfy, surprised I didn't fall asleep mid-play! (Would've been embarassing) But I definitely recommend it. Personally I would definitely choose the Wolsey over the Regent. Parking can be a bit of a problem... But what do I know? I can't even drive!

Thank you for your review and for supporting The Importance of Being Earnest, I'm very pleased you found our seating comfortable too. Our Cafe has had some significant changes since your last visit, do let us know what you think next time we're here. The Underground Spiral Car Park is also open each night until 11pm with plenty of spaces for theatregoers.
